All I can say about this is....wow.  How powerful is the love of a mother.  May God bless that family and that boy so that he will survive and know the love of his mother.  Thank you for sharing this with us Suzie.

Linda, this is not a simple one-sided story of right/wrong.  So many things play into this.  When you take everything into consideration, of course you have to think about the kids she left behind too, che?  Those kids and her husband needed her just as much.  You could make the argument that she should have preserved her life for the sake of her other kids.  In her particular case though, her cancer was so well advanced that even had she opted for an abortion and started treatment a few months sooner, the time left for her was still very limited.  There was no way to stop her cancer.  But by making a choice that ultimately cut her time even shorter, she gave chance to another life.  None of us can know what went on in her heart and mind, but I personally believe she had a conviction that by making the kind of sacrifice she made, the return would be greater, ie, a new life would be given a chance.  There is no question that these are some very heavy and difficult choices, and she was a brave woman - and I call her brave because in the midst of her tribulation she kept a positive attitute and did what she was convcinced was the right thing to do.

Suzie, in your comment, you called her a "brave woman." you are right [= I will answer Linda's question. " who's really the hero?" In my opinion she sacrificed her past life, but the husband will sacrifice his future life. so, in this case, both are heroes of their children and that is a real family [=
