Forgiveness- Setting your spirit free from bondage Are you holding on to grudges? As human beings living in the flesh, we hold on to our grudges like a piece of fine china. We nurture them, we keep them close to our heart, and carry them from one relationship to another, not realizing that every grudge will drop a piece of itself on to whoever we come in contact with. So in reality a grudge is not really our own. It's fickle, it's mean, ans so often it is detrimental to the mind, body ,and spirit. Unforgiveness of others and yourself can destroy in many ways. Gang violence is one that comes to mind right now, also raciel tension. Unless the sins of the father are forgiven, these will continue to whirl out of control. This leads to revenge. Leviticus 19:18 states " Don't seek vengance. Don't bear a grudge; but love you neighbor as yourself for I AM Jehova." Easier said than done huh? Most of us don't even love ourselves. Living in the world today is not easy. The news bombards us with so much violence, corruption, and sin. It's easy to get caught up in the hate. Our spirits get leaded down. "And so we should not be like cringing, fearful slaves, but we should behave like GOD's very own children, adopted into the bosom of HIS family, calling HIM. Father,Father" Romans 8:15. I look at it this way. My whole adult life I lived with grudges. Those grudges turned into alcahol and drug abuse. It almost took my life, not only physically but spiritually. The worst grudge of all was the one against myself. This is the most populer and most dangerous grudge of all, the self-loathing grudge. The enemies strong-hold on most of the earthly population. If we can't love and forgive ourselves, how can we possibly love and forgive others? Well I will tell you how. The only way is through the love and fogiveness of Jesus Christ."I am the truth the way and the light. No one comes to the father except through me." All you need to do is ask. It's that simple. Your sins are forgivin instantly. You are deemed innocent. All the father ask is that you pass this special gift to your fellow man. Luke 6:27-28 says it all. "Listen all of you. Love your enemies, do good for those who hate you. Pray for the happiness of those who curse you; implore GOD's blessing on those who hurt you." Only by doing this can you love yourself and set your spirit free from bondage.S. McHenry 1/27/08 |
