I plan to use this site to talk about the missionaries from the Southern Territory as well my personal ministry. First, there is something that has been on my heart for sometime and I thought I would share it my first blog here. As Christians we are called to be missionaries. While we may not be called to serve in a foreign country or called to Salvation Army Officership, we are commanded to go out into the world and spread the "Good News" of Jesus of Christ. Many fail to realize that the world starts in our homes, our neighborhoods, at our jobs and in our home towns. We are called to be living witnesses for Christ. We are to tell our testimonies of love for Christ and of the many wonders he has worked in our lives. We are called to lights to not only brighten the darkness but to lead our fellows unto Jesus. We are called to be servants unto our Lord and to those who serve with us. Despite all this, there is a growing trend among the Soldiers of my corps and many corps that I have visited, many soldiers choose not to wear the uniform. I can understand not wearing it from time to time because I am often guilty of that but I personally know many soldiers who wear there uniforms and few times a year. To me the Salvation Army uniform is a symbol of personal commitment, not only of to the Salvation Army but most importantly to Jesus Christ. It's a symbol to the public that we are servants to Jesus Christ as well as to them. The uniform is a great witness to others but also an opening to share our personal witness. Are we not warriors for Christ? Are we not advocates for the lost, the hurting, and the sick? To me, the uniform is symbol for the difference between us and other Christians (not better just different). We stand out in a crowd, our uniforms becomes the light in the darkness that lets us be the light that leads the way. It is a symbol of our unity, our resolve, and our ultimate goal to serve in Christ name and for His glory. Are we not an Army? Are we not called to serve?
