Surfing some pages the other day, it was brought to my attention the fact that internet is a new media that opens the door for many and sometimes we as a Christians intent to use the “old methods” of approaching other into the web. Tv, Radio, Prints, among others. Are media to push content in people’s time, fighting to grab anybody’s attention and hopefully plant an idea that eventually will drive people to get a product or service… In the 90’s, web 1.0 was exactly the same (and still is), where we could post messages of our Pastors or of our own and just wait for the click’s report to see how effective it was. But a simple form of “Contact Us” is not warm enough to start the “conversation”, so chat rooms, forums, etc were created to start the interaction between writer and readers. Web 2.0 has given us the capability not just to read, listen and share any kind of sermons, but has opened the door for all of us start creating our own content, allowing the general public to get out of the anonymous status were the cost of traditional media kept us in. Today we can spread the gospel not pushing readers to and specific Tv or Radio schedule, but in the solitude of the night, during the break time of the job, literally in any place and convenience time. The world is changing and that’s a fact that we can’t stop. So instead of running far from the change, I believe that we should be able to adapt and continue preaching the Good News in a new world… like a new dimension where many people live. I’m planning to start writing more and more about online-outreach and giving away simple methods and techniques to improve your Internet Ministry.
