This is inspired by Max Lucado, an author of high standing in my eyes.
How many of you have reading Max Lucado's book about Punchinello te Wemmick? The little wooden puppet who was not very well liked? For those of you who haven't here is a brief summary:
The world tells kids, "You're special if... if you have the brains, the looks, the talent." God tells them, "You're special just because. No qualifications necessary." Only one of those messages will find its place in their hearts. That's why every child you know needs to hear this one, reassuring truth: "You are precious in His sight." Max Lucado's delightful, fully illustrated children's tale from the pages of Tell Me the Secrets will help you say it again and again... with love.
All the Wemmicks went around giving dots to the ones they did not like, and stars to the ones that could do things that they liked. Poor Punchinello could not get a star ever. One day, he meets a young lady Wemmick that has neither a dot or a star. They just won't stick. He asks why and she tells im to talk to Eli, the one who makes the Wemmicks. He does just that and discovers that the only opinion that matters is the One who made him. And one of his dots fall off. It reminds me of the stars here, though these are not given under the same ideas. Just a thought to consider. Read the story. The lesson is not just for kids.
