| "Coma" |

Someone very close and dear to me was rushed to the emergency room. Irregular breathing and limited nervous response, were the symptoms but the doctor's couldn't figure out the cause.
Suddenly, she slipped into a coma...a breathing tube was inserted into her mouth...things turned for the worse. I received a phone call, "They don't think she's going to make it". My heart filled with grief...my eyes filled with tears.
My first instinct was to get to where she is, but then the reality of being over 45 minutes away and in the middle of facilitating Monday night prayer set in. I could have used some one's car...the church would have understood me leaving, but for some reason I couldn't move.
All I could do was cry out to the Lord for His peace to overtake me. I refused to lose hope...I couldn't lose hope...my faith in a risen savior wouldn't let me lose hope. I knew that if my faith failed and I gave up praying, the opportunity for God's miracle working power to be poured out would be cut off.
It was 4 days later when I recieved another phone call. They told me that she had come out of a coma and she was moving around, trying to take the breathing tube out of her mouth. I laughed softly, eyes filled with tears, heart filled joy. The doctor's said that she had slipped into a "diabetic come"...her blood sugar levels were to low. It caused her "brain" to shut down but her "heart" was still beating. That's why she was still alive.
Have you ever felt like you were in a coma? Your friends start acting "shady", relationships failing, financial difficulties and you just can't make sense of any of it? It's almost as if you mind shuts down and you become stagnant, unable to move.
You don't know what's going on...everything seems dark...you're in a state of "spiritual unconsciousness". But you haven't "given in". Your "faith" is still pumping "Life" into you spirit...there's still a "heartbeat".
Now God has the opportunity to bring you out...now that the friends are out of the way...your relationship can't interfere any more...financial worries won't over take you anymore. The Lord will bring you out...just don't faint...don't give in...as long as your "faith" is still beating, you won't die.
God is breathing His life into you right now. He's pouring out His Spirit into you right now.
Sometimes the Lord has to cause us to go into a "coma" in the spirit. He knows what we need and our dependency should be on Him and Him only. Just like the doctor's couldn't figure out what was going on with my grandmother, neither can you figure out what going on with your life.
Just know that as long as faith is still beating inside you and the Spirit of God is still flowing through you, you shall not die. Be still and know that He is God...it all working for your good.
I love you and God bless!!
