I'm the lowly Canadian who just waits and sees, but this will affect us too I am sure.  Go for the Christian!!!!!!!!! lol Is that wrong for me to say???? HEHE. Just did.  There's my two cent's worth. IF he really is born again, at least he will be open to God's voice.

First I will be praying seeking God's chose. Maybe McCain don't know what it means to be born again. And I trust Obama more then Clinton. Like I said I will be seeking the Lord. How about you for President? God Bless,Doyle,

Lara, what is really interesting is that many conservative Christians would almost consider "voting for a Democrat" as a sin.  So, this situation - Obama and Romney or McCain - will certainly force them to think through their beliefs.

Doyle, you are funny. No thanks. I would rather continue my current function where I get an audience with the big guy once or twice a year. That is sufficient for me.

We got 5 praying days 'till super tuesday.  and more praying days 'till Indaina's primaries.  I was leaning towards Huckabee.  But being a democrat, we have no pro life candidates.  I may not be a Democrat much longer.  Conventions don't seem to give the attention to there platforms the way they used to.

You have three other blogs hitting on the same subject - one is Kathy's, one is Pastor Tim's and one is mine.  Well, at least the ones I know about.  There are probably more.  My position: I vote for the best qualified based on leadership for a nation.  If he has solid character that's what I want.  There are lots of pagans with that as well as Christians.

I dont think we can just vote for someone because they say they are a Christian, because we really dont know what is in ones' heart. Jesus said we would recognize people because of the fruit that they bare. With that in mind, i will not vote for anyone if they help to keep the doors of abortion clinics open. Beyond that i think it gets down to who can effectively lead our country. God will always be in control. We need to pray for a leader who will seek the Lord in His decision making. God bless all of you, and God bless our nation!

Well Dave, none of the remaining candidates are strong pro-life people...will be interesting.

Gene, thanks for the links to the other posts. I have been really busy with little time to post here. I just read them and they are all great discussions.

Amy, I posted my thoughts on abortion as a presidential campaign issue on Pastor Tim's blog (see link above in Gene's comment).  Thanks for your thoughts here, though. I know that issue is important to many of us.

Well as I've just been doing drive by's lately.  Here's my 2 cents.

Would you go to a church run by a pastor because he says he's a christian or go to the one that has the same beliefs he does?

Would you go to a dentist because he was a christian or because he did a good job cleaning your teeth (and charged less).

If you take your kids to daycare would you take them to the christian child care center where they charge more and still have ideas that oppose yours (say for instance if you're not Catholic and the day care center is)?

Would you vote for the christian who is for abortions, gay marriage, and many other items that you don't agree with... or would you vote for a candidate who is pro family and has very few points you disagree with (who may or may not be a christian?)

I do think that being a christian should play a part at some point.  But there are too many other things in play here.  And I have trouble buying "Christianity" as a platform.  And by that I mean that seems to be the marketing point of the person running.  That ends up being sad.

Just a point of clarification.  I was not trying to imply that by nature the Christian is going to charge more, do more shoddy work and so on.  I was merely trying to point out that when decisions are made in other areas, do you consider this same question?

Norm brings up a good point. If two candidates are "pretty much the same" in qualifications, and one is a Christian, then it probably makes sense to vote for the Christian.  However, and it is a big "however"...if one lacks leadership skill to lead a nation, lacks an understanding of states rights and division of powers, is unable to inspire the American people, but is still a Christian, does that make them acceptable as a President? I think not.

It is a similar mindset that my wife and I go through about our little Christian bookstore.  Is it a bad thing when WalMart offers the same products we do at a price lower than we can buy them?  From a business sense it can make us angry at our supplier who will sell the same material to WalMart at such a low price, but from a Kingdom sense, who cares?  If it makes more Christian material available to more people, then that is a good thing, right? My point here, like Norm's, is that we have to be careful when mixing Kingdom qualities with the world standards.
