PASTOR'S UPDATE
Sometimes I am just get overwhelmed at all that happens at Faith as people try to live out their faith: - A teen prays for peace about her relationship with God
- A man pours out his burden to see the church live out its calling
- Our leadership team stays till 10:00 dreaming about what Faith could be
- Our mission team is focused on Mexico and seek God's direction
- A member works to raise awareness of child abuse
- Faith provides a place for a local Girl Scout troop to meet and better our community
- Ladies cook for a fund raiser for a local teen with cancer
- First Place meets to encourage people to take care of their bodies
Or didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don't you see that you can't live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. 1 Cor. 6:19 (MsgB) - Visits are made in jails, nursing homes, hospitals and private homes
- A letter is written to a poor boy in another country from a class
- A new family says, "We think we have found a church family at Faith"
- A man takes a test on the Old Testament and his only reason is the love of God's Word
- A family struggles to be a Christ honoring family
Do you see why I am excited about the church? It is not perfect but it is the earthly manifestation of what God is doing here on earth. One day we will live in a perfect world and we will experience that New Earth that Christ talked about, but until then the church is the best show in town. Don't look for what's wrong, look for what's right and jump in, the water's fine. Who knows? You might actually make a difference in this world. 2:42 And they kept their attention fixed on the Apostles' teaching and were united together in the taking of broken bread and in prayer. 2:43 But fear came on every soul: and all sorts of wonders and signs were done by the Apostles. 2:44 And all those who were of the faith kept together, and had all things in common; 2:45 And exchanging their goods and property for money, they made division of it among them all, as they had need. 2:46 And day by day, going in agreement together regularly to the Temple and, taking broken bread together in their houses, they took their food with joy and with true hearts, 2:47 Giving praise to God, and having the approval of all the people; and every day the number of those who had salvation was increased by the Lord. This Sunday I will be continuing in my series on Questions This week we look at David and his question: What is man? There is so much confusion in our world about the place of man. Is he just a higher form of primate? Is he the next step in the evolutionary process? Is he just a spirit with the appearance of matter? David early in his life was overwhelmed not with man but with the fact that God even gave man a second thought. He described his feelings in Psalm eight. Only when we begin to understand God do we begin to understand man. Man was created in the image of God and the key to understanding man is understanding God. David as a young shepherd boy looked into the night sky and felt sooooo small. 8:1 O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth, Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens! Psalms 8:1 8:3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? This week we want to examine four things that God has given to man that were intended to bring glory to God and give rich meaning to man's life. - Strength
- A glorious world
- His attention
- A divine purpose
