| A love so strong |
|
| |
Have you ever had a love so strong that you would do ANYTHING for someone? A love so strong that you were determined that absolutely nothing could deter you from blessing them with everything you could muster, withholding no good thing from them that you could supply? They could do anything, say anything, and it wouldn’t deter you from your desire to love them. I have such a love for my wife, and for my dear children. And I am far, far from perfect. But I am capable of this love, largely because God who is Love, Jesus who is Love Personified, and the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Love, put love in me. And God’s love for us is like this too. He has a love so strong that he gave everything, so that we could actually touch Him when we reach out to Him. His love empowers me to live for Him and for others. This is the power of the cross. This is the power of love. Grace my friends. ~mike |

| That's awesome Mike. I hope it's viral. Go on and infect all the brothers with that love. Could it be that God’s love is contagious? |

| God's love is definitely contagious and I'm completely "contaminated"... hmmm I do not like using the word 'contaminated' and God in the same sentance, it doesn't sound right. Though if it means that I am filled to the rim with Him then yes I am contaminated with His love. (Does anyone remember that old coffee ad 'Filled to the rim with Brim' - I like my slogan better... 'Filled to the rim with Him' don't you think?)
God's love has overflowed in my life to everyone he places in it. I never understood love until I had a firm foundation, a personal relationship with God, and it is gooooooooooooood!!!!!!!!! The love I have for my husband and my children is so incredible, it is an example of God's love in my life.
Blessings

| Mike,
Awsome post....if more people loved like this in the world, we'd turn it upside down!!! It blesses my heart to see a man love his wife and family the way you do. It's a beautiful picture of the love of Christ for the His Beloved Bride, the Church. This is the very heart of God.
Blessings to you and yours!

| Kelly...why don't you tell us exactly how you feel...no holding back now...;>)
For those of us who have experienced this kind of love, there is no going back...we have closed the door...and it is very good. |

| I cant help but remember that God wants us to love those that dont love us back, those that despitfully use us.It is easy to love those that love us in return,But God requires even more from his children Im thankful he does this work for me ,I could never accomplish this in my flesh,Amen? |

| This is a great post! I feel this way toward my wife, my best friend, former convicts, the impoverished, and former prostitutes.
I feel this way toward my former employer who fired me to take my wages for himself.
I feel this way toward my former friends who put Vicki and I on the street.
And I feel this way for pagan Christian-haters. |

| How can I read that & not comment? I too am married to the best friend in the world. We started out that way & our love & friendship has continued to grow! She has been the greatest source of encouragement I could have. I also have the most incredible 20 year old daughter. Who still calls to talk to me twice or more a week. I am a very blessed man! Thank you Lord!! |

From living with a godly husband I have come to know and describe God's love this way: unconditional and sacrificial. Great topic and blog, Mike. We can never say too much or think too much about God's love. |

15:9 Even as the Father hath loved me, I also have loved you: abide ye in my love. 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may be in you, and `that' your joy may be made full. 15:12 This is my commandment, that ye love one another, even as I have loved you. 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do the things which I command you. 15:15 No longer do I call you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I heard from my Father, I have made known unto you. 15:16 Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and `that' your fruit should abide: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 15:17 These things I command you, that ye may love one another. 'Nuff said! LOL |

Sean John, thanks for bringing back this "oldie"!! :-) I pray God's blessings for you too! (my new friend!)
Jay, I can tell you adore your husband. You are very fortunate to have a strong, loving and godly husband. I'd love to pat him on the back sometime!
Thanks Hal and MH, your comments are appreciated! Now that Jesus has finished his work on our behalf, it's all about love! |
