| Day 37 |

The reading for day 37 was Job 8:1-25:6. The book of Job is a picture of the absolute sovereignty of God in our lives over even the bad things that happen to us. Job 9 verse 12 says "If he snatches away, who can stop him? Who can say to him, 'What are you doing'?" There are an interesting couple of verses in chapter 16 that say, "O earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry never be laid to rest! Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of man he pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend." Who do you think Job is reffering to? Christians are afraid of people like Job. We are afraid to confront real suffering. We don't like it. We say, "Don't blame God, he wouldn't do that to you, he is a God of love." When God may very well be the direct cause of their sorrow. Maybe he wants us to be able to say, as Job did, "though he slay me, yet will I hope in him." What say you? |
