The best funeral I attended was of the father of my friend. He was a committed Christian, solid in who he was before God. At the funeral, the pastor quoted a celebrity who gave a speach about another celebrity that died. At one point the celebrity said "wherever he is, he would be proud," or somesuch. The pastor contrasted this "wherever he is" idea with the absolute, rock-solid assurity he has of where my friend's dad is. The gospel was presented at least three times in three different ways, and I left with more a feeling of exuberance and encouragement than remorse. What a joyful day that was, and I could see that aspect in my friend's face as well, despite the pain of physical separation!
