| dealing with a pressure cooker |

I think we can all agree that David lived in a perpetual pressure cooker. Every decision he made affected thousands of people. He also knew who could help him deal with it.
15:1 LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 15:2He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 15:3[He that] backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. 15:4In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. [He that] sweareth to [his own] hurt, and changeth not. 15:5[He that] putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these [things] shall never be moved.
David also knew what kind of man was welcome in the presence of the Lord. Verses 2-5 give us 10 actions of a Godly man. How many of these things do we fail at? How many times do we backbite or do or think evil things about our neighbors? The ones who do this "shall never be moved." I think that means they will not be moved by the presence of The Lord because they will not be in that presence. We are saved by grace but we still have The Law to show us what is pleasing to Our Lord. I am going to make a concerted effort to follow these 10 criteria. This will not be an easy task, but I want to please the Lord. I know the Lord understands the frailty of the human condition, so I think that it pleases Him when we make an effort to please Him.
OK, enough rambling for now. L8r folks. |
