Do you think that it's wrong for me " not to discuss politics" I do vote and I will speak on issues, but I never get involved in discussions ,and I don't make comments on blogs that deal with them.

| Nope. Not at all Keith! There is no requirement for the Christian to be outspoken regarding specific candidates. In fact, it might be better that we don't, as it can quickly lead to "factions" within the Church, and our unity can be fractured. IMHO. |

Hi Evangelist Keith.........I made the (unbeknownst to me) mistake of blogging my opinion about the economic state that the US is in under our current President's leadership. However that was not the topic of the blog (just one sentence amongst several). I received what seemed to be a 10 page response about how great the US has done under President Bush's leadership. I found it to be a bit harsh (especially on MYCHURCH.ORG), because I stated in my blog that I wanted to become more involved in local politics and asking for suggestions on how to do so. I decided to steer clear of politics, because I don't want to debate or defend my views on what I feel to be a blessed website. I love being an American, because everyone is entitled to their own political views (democracy). I added Mr. Barack's video, YES WE CAN, to my page today. Not because I'm voting for him, but because I believe in the message. No matter who is elected GOD is THE ALPHA AND OMEGA. So, I guess I would say you're neither right nor wrong. |

Thanks Sister, And I did read your new blog and listen to the video! I wrote this blog because my wife asked me last night have I decided who I was voting for, and I told her,"I didn't want to get into it" because the last time She told me I voted for the wrong person! Go figure! Anyway thank you for your comment. |

Keith, You question is "am I wrong? It is up to the individual. Now if we were a healthy society, we could have great discussion on such matters, learn a lot and make better choices, however, imo, many people are far to paranoid, and can't handle difference of opinions.
If only we were healthy, what a better world we could create. Carlita, I am sorry that you had to experience what you did, however, be comfortable that people see things differently. Now, President Bush is a good president, I'm sure for somebody...?
Can I disagree with you and still love you, yes. Can others disagree with me and still love me, not many can. So we try to get along by not voicing our true opinions, sometimes this may or may not be a good thing. Now as far as politics is concerned.... the Bible is political! Always has been and always will be. Not sure if people understand it... but you can see politics in all 66 books. We need to just be clear on what the term "politics" truly mean.
Ok, this is getting long.... I've been away to long... got a lot of catching up to do.

Pastor Aminata, It is always good to hear what you have to say, your words come to me like a bolt of wisdom from above! I like what you said about " IF we were a healthy society"And i see that as so true, and I guess this is the reason I feel uncomfortable talking about it. Thank you. P.S Hows ministry? |

Keith......keep the thought provoking blogs coming. GOD BLESS. Hi Restore.......what is IMO? I've read a lot of blogs on here about politics also and their vicious. Thanks you Pastor Aminata, I definitely believe that people should be able to agree to disagree in love. It seems like politics brings out the worse in some people. I'm trying to understand why. Amen Cathy.

Politic stands are very personal and only require us to answer to God for them!!! Each person must give an account, me, you, and our President. Keeping our focus on Jesus and His sacrifice is the most important thing in this life. ~Robin |

Hi Evangelist Keith... I don't think it is wrong for you to keep your political opinions out of the work of God. I know it's hard to do, because whey being a Christian is a WAY of LIFE, then everything else you do is intertwined with that. With that being said, I believe that a persons political views are a personal choice, just as if you choose to buy one brand of a product over the other. They both do the same thing...maybe you feel one does a better job than the other. Now, after all of the elections, pre-elections, primaries, etc...when it is all said and done...HE is the ruler of all, and HE is the ultimate decision maker. HE is the Commander in Chief...and ultimately it is HIS decision who is in office. Make no mistake about it...it is no accident that our President is who he is today. God has a plan, and no one, no vote can take that away. The only opinions I give on politics is to the African American community, especially the young folk...and that is to go out and vote. I don't care WHO you vote for, just VOTE. I don't care if you write in Bozo the Clown..just vote. Way, way too many of our ancestors died for our right to vote, and it is does their sacrifice and their lives a dis-service when we do not exersice the right that they died to give us. There were people who were 70 and 80 years old who were beaten while registering to vote...they knew they would not be alive to vote, but they did it so WE could vote. |
