Well, the Discovery Channel strikes again. As I listen to all the "evidence" that they have found the remains of Jesus, I immediately think of what would happen if someone used the same type of "evidence" to prove that Jesus rose from the dead. If that was to be tried, scientists would roll on the floor laughing at the lame attempt at science. But since this documentary is trying to take the legs out from under Christianity, it is put forth as worthy of consideration. That being said, I pray that no Christian is nervous about this latest attack on the Bible. In the past year alone we have seen "The DaVinci Code" craze, the "Gospel of Judas" and now the "Tomb of Jesus." The Bible does not need to be confirmed by science - scientific findings need to be confirmed by the truth of God's Word. What the "Tomb of Jesus" film does not address is the book of Acts. If the followers of Jesus and His family members know that He is actually dead - explain the book of Acts! Explain why it is that countless first century Christians were brutally put to death because of the Gospel and NOBODY is recorded as confessing that they knew Jesus was actually dead. No, some were willing to have theri head sawed off - you don't do that unless you know that Jesus is risen. But was Jesus only spiritually resurrected and not physically? Read the end of the Gospels. Did Thomas touch the wounds of a spirit or a body?? Let us not lose heart over this latest weak attempt at science. Hold firm to the truth of God's Word. The next attack will come along soon enough and that, too, will be found lacking in credibility! |
