25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me. I saw something yesterday that broke my heart and I thought of this song by Lauren Talley. I've had a flare up with my back for the past few days so I went to the doctor yesterday. As I was leaving her office I saw a young lady who looked to be about 17 or so coming through the door with what looked like her father. She was wearing some strange clothing and had every color of the rainbow in her hair. She had earrings in several places on her face and head and I must confess my first thought was "oh brother". Then as I looked a little closer I noticed that her father had her by the arm and was guiding her through the door. I noticed that she could barely hold her own head up and it looked as though she would fall over if he were to let go of her for one second. She was clearly strung out on something. I looked down at the arms and saw what must have been 75 or more scars and fresh cuts on her arms from the elbows down. These were not scratches or some other kind of wound. They had a definite pattern. Each one going in the same direction across the top of her forearm. She was a cutter, a self mutilator. Instantly I felt such pain for that father and what he must be feeling to know that there was probably a day when he looked into her little face and thought the sun would rise and set there for him. What promise and what great hopes he must have once had for her, only to find himself now trying to get her help and probably living every minute of every day waiting on the other shoe to drop or for some fateful phone call. Then I thought about her and wondered what kind of pain can a person be in that they would do those things to themselves. My heart has been aching over this and I know that I know that God needed me to witness that. I'm not sure why but I know I was there because God wanted me to see that. The whole thing only lasted less than a minute but it has occupied my mind for the last 24 hours.
People Jesus loves you. And there is not one thing that you could ever go through in this life that he hasn't already been through. The self inflicted stripes on that girls arms reminded me of the stripes that innocent Jesus took upon his body for an undeserving world. He suffered pain and rejection from some of the very people who claimed to love him most. His way out was simple. All he had to do was call out to his father and say enough, but he didn't. You may say why would He go through all of that when he didn't have to. He did it for me, he did it for you. If your hurting, if your in pain, if you are in deep despair and you are looking for things in this world to fill that void in your life, you will never find it. You're way out is so much easier. Call out to him, ask him into your heart and life and accept that you are nothing without him. He wants to be your savior. He longs to be your comforter. He wants to fill that void in your life whatever it may be. There is nothing in this world that can replace the peace that Jesus gives. Problems may still come your way but when you know him, he supplies a grace and a peace that passes understanding to get you through those dark times. Christians love one another and love the lost. They need Jesus' light in you to show them the right way to go. - So go and love the broken ones.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhkouYKrYrk&feature=related . Maggie came home one day with a raggedy, Raggedy Ann She said mama look what I found in the neighbors garbage can. It had a missing left arm And a right button eye Hanging by a thread She carried it gently up to her room And laid it on her bed With her other dolls . . .
She loves the broken ones The ones that need a little patching up She sees the diamond in the rough And makes it shine like new It really doesn't take that much A willing heart and a tender touch If everybody loved like she does There'd be a lot less broken ones
Twenty years later in a shelter on eighteenth avenue A seventeen year old girl showed up all black and blue Needle tracks in her left arm Almost too weak to stand She says I'm lost And I need help As Maggie takes her hand And says come on in . . . .
She loves the broken ones The ones that need a little patching up She sees the diamond in the rough And makes it shine like new It really doesn't take that much A willing heart and a tender touch If everybody loved like she does There'd be a lot less broken ones
If you called her an angel She'll be quick to say to you She's just doing what the one who died for her would do.
Love the broken ones The ones who need a little patching up See the diamond in the rough And make it shine like new It really doesn't take that much A willing heart and a tender touch If everybody loved like He does There'd be a lot less broken ones
If everybody loved like he does There'd be a lot less broken ones |
