| Do You Carry Your Bible or Does Your Bible Carry You? |

4:12 For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. Some churches and pastors make a big deal about people carrying their Bible to church.. Personally, I've never liked carrying my Bible in my hand.. I'm good at misplacing things and I don't want to lose it. Also, when I hear a Scripture read, I like to listen, not follow along in my Bible -- that usually confuses and distracts me, especially if my translation doesn't match the one being read.
Now I'm not against people carrying their Bible to church if they really want to. However, many preachers try to make people feel guilty for not bringing a physical copy of their Bible with them.
I do carry my Bible in my heart and my mind. I love to read it, think about it, ponder it. I try to apply it to my life and actually do what it says. So should I feel bad because I don't have a copy in my hand at church?
Besides, the most important question is not; "Do you carry your Bible?" but "Does your Bible carry you?" When you feel like you can't go on another day; when someone stepped on your last nerve; when you are sick and tired of waiting for something; when your world is falling apart; when you want to go ahead and sin -- does your Bible carry you to victory then? |

Steve, I understand what you are saying about having the Bible in your heart, But the truth is I think that all Christians should carry their Bible " Physical Copy" because in the day that we live many people don't read the word of God for themselves as it is, and many Pastors are not preaching from the Bible, They are preaching from uninspired books! And what is happening is people are quoting things that the Pastor said and not what the Bible says. Than we get into that thing about the different translations of the Bible " I will not go into that", But I think people should carry there bible to church and follow it. This is just my thought! |

| I think you're right on, Steve. I've been carrying my Bible on Sunday mornings more out of habit than it being useful during the Scripture reading time before the sermon. And, yes, I've forgotten it at church on more than a few occasions. Do I feel guilty when I forget to bring it on Sunday morning? Not really. I guess it's because the Bible carries me. |

Evangelist Keith: Good points.
Doyle: Both is good.
Jenily: The Bible in the mind and heart is most important of all.
Ed: It is easy to carry the Bible out of habit or manipulation. The thing is we all should be led by the Spirit as to carry it or not. Occasionally God will tell me to carry my Bible. Much more frequently He tells me to read it and live it. |

| I do carry my bible to church, more for our Sunday school class than for the actual church service, since it is usually up on the screen, and there are bibles in the pews. I love to read my bible, and usually go there in search of an answer to a problem I am facing. |

| I carry my Bible with me,because I do like to make sure that everything matches up,& I take zillions of notes in my Bible. That's how I learn & remeber, along with the Holy Spirit pouring His insights me.It's important to read your Bible & live it everyday, not just on Sundays for looks or because of manipulation tactics. |

We talked about this at church. There were a number of people who thought we should add Bibles to the pews. Instead the pastor explained that we don't need to do that. We need to make Bibles available in the gathering place outside the sanctuary for people to take home. You see, during worship the words are displayed on large screens for everyone to see (and read) and what we really need is people reading the Bible "out there" rather than in the church. If that's the only place we have Bibles, we're really hurtin'!
I take a small pocket sized Gideons text of the New Testament when I travel. In the hotels they usually have Bibles (although THAT is starting to be less and less true) but the version is usually King James and I stopped talking that way centuries ago. Getest thou my drift, good fellow? |

| I do both. I have had the question posed as to why not carry it for the physical example to others. Also, Keith is right on with let us always be watchful. Many are deceivers! |
