| The True Love Of My Life |
|
| |
You probably all think I am going to talk about my husband, but that isn't it (although I do love him so much!) Nope, no other guy on this earth either...the true love of my life is Jesus.
With Valentine's Day fast approaching, it seemed appropriate to mention Jesus, since He loves us far more than anyone else can. All that He has done for us, even though He knew we wouldn't all return that love, proves His love is true, and like no other.
13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 13:2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 13:3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. 13:4 Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; 13:5 it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 13:6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. 13:7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 13:8 Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 13:9 For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect; 13:10 but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. 13:13 So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. We've all read the "love chapter" I am sure. If we don't have love we are nothing...faith, hope, and love abide, but the greatest of these is love. Even if you have no one else in this life who loves you, Jesus does.
I haven't always thought of Jesus as the true love of my life. There were times when I put Him last in my life, and made choices that were destructive to myself and others. I put other people, money, possessions, pride, selfishness, all before Him. My needs were what was important, not anyone else's, and certainly not Jesus. I didn't want Him to have control of me or my life.
It wasn't until my world came crashing down around me that I realized that I was doing a lousy job of running my life. When something like that happens, it can either make you or break you. It broke me...as some of you may have read in one of my other blogs, the thought of suicide seemed pretty inviting at that point in my life. There were many times when I almost did it...but something or someone always stopped me before I did, and I KNOW it was God reaching down and saving me.
Ultimately, He is the one that saved me from myself. You have to be broken before you can rebuild. And I was truly broken...and the One that loves me more than life is the One that put me back together. I literally owe Him my life. I want to show my love for Him in all that I do in my lifetime.
And so, this is my Valentine to Jesus, the love of my life, for who He is to me, and to many. Thank You Jesus, for loving me even when I was at my most unlovable point in life. Thank You for forgiving me all the horrible things that I did, and the rotten way I treated You. Thank You for breaking me, and then rebuilding me to be more like You. And thank You for the love You continue to bestow upon me, even through the trials of this life. I am looking forward to spending eternity with You!! |

Great blog, Deb. Those who were "broken" (and we all were) can fully appreciate how wonderful for HIM to put us back together again, better than ever!
I THANK GOD that HE did reach down and saved you, so that you did no permanent damage (suicide you spoke of) and not become the person you are today!
Great words and thoughts of appreciation for HIM, Deb! |

Yep the love chapter...ain't that the one...I love how patience is number one on the love list...yep if you can lay down your life and get past number one you are well on your way to lovin God and lovin your neighbour as yourself. Debra Lynn, the next best thing to sending mail to Jesus is praying and praising Him. We have a direct dial to Him, and we can call at any time!
Paul, Amen! |
