Lots of buzz on social networking in the past couple days. Mostly due to the arrival of Ning and Cisco's purchase of Tribe.net. Couple interesting quotes from all this: Om Malik (to Cisco): This social software thing – it is too marginal, doesn’t make money and can’t make you cool. Stick to what you know best - plumbing hardware –sell tons of it, make money, and learn to live with the fact that you are rich and old school. Mark Andreessen (Ning): Every church should have a social network... Anybody below the age of 22 - this (social networking) is how they live Mark Brooks (Social Networking Watch): Ultimately, our profiles will be ubiquitous and social networks will be more personalised. We will each be members of many social networks. LinkedIn for business, MyChurch for our church group, Zaadz for our group of do-gooders, Facebook for college buddies... The internet world will more closely resemble the real world. |
