"Our backyard surprise"
We had an awful windstorm during the weekend here in Virginia. I overheard a local forecaster talking about a man in another part of our area who had a large tree fall down in his backyard and didn't hit anything. Her comment, "Boy, he was sure lucky!" I didn't think much about it until I had the same thing happen to me. Yep, I had a big tree fall in our back yard. It was just an old pine, not much use for burning inside but our kids grew up playing on it and we loved watching the family of squirrels that lived there. They could put on quite a show from our back window. But I digress. I am not sure what that means but it sure make you sound important. Back to my point, our tree landed precisely between our shed and our neighbor's house. It missed the shed by inches and his house by a few feet. The only damage done was to the fence and that seems fixable. If it had gone the other way it would have landed right in the middle of our house.
Now was this luck or did God have something to do with it? Did He guide that tree so it would land just in the right spot? He did say He knew every sparrow by name and could count every hair on my head (he doesn't have to count very high these days). So what do think? Did God guide the tree? What if it had hit my house, would you still say He guided it? I am just glad he has it all under control and my only concern is to trust Him. 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. |
