I believe the Hebrew blessing you are referring to is the Berachot.  Here's an interesting link for you:  http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Blessings/Introduction/introduction.html  I took a meditative prayer class last summer and one of the lessons was on this particular blessing.

Blessings!

Doyle,
Thanks for the Valentine that sounded like it was written by a saint.  I say sounded like because I don't know how you feel about saints.  I feel they are people who talk a lot about God and Jesus and share in His testament.
I wrote a short story this morning about children.  If I get approval I will post it on the website.
Happy Valentines Day and Blessed be the Lord and all those who worship Him.

Like Paul said, Bless the Lord, Oh my soul...and thank Him for all the blessings He has bestowed upon me!

Bless God. Bless God.  And, I thank Him for you.  May the windows of Heaven be opened each day to pour out blessings upon you and everyone who loves Him.

Always In His Love

IMHO- to thank God is to convey appreciation for what he's done. To bless him is to give him something of value, not that he needs anything, but in the attempt we give him a piece of our heart, perhaps the only thing he can't have w/o it being given to him. I don't know, how's that sound to you?

Doyle, you are a blessing to me, and I'm sure to many people. I love your heart!!!

Doyle,  Very good blog!  You've received great comments, too.

I will add this, many of the blessings currently have been said for at least two thousand years, as they were started during Roman rule.  The empahsis  was on the responsibility for all creation by GOD.  Today, these blessings remind us throughout the day that HE still cares for us and provides for us.

The Jews also said their BLESSING for meals AFTER the meals, not before.  The word for blessing in Hebrew is  brakha.  The word suggets the proper form for prayer was on bended knee.

This is one of the many wonderful things about Jewish teachings, to me.
They were really giving HIM honor, praise, and thanks
for just about everything in life, since it does indeed come from HIM.  These many blessings also reminded them to think about this fact--that HE did give them everything in life. The many blessings they said all the time and not just on one day of the week.  You were right, they did have a blessing for just about everything and I think it was WONDERFUL!

Blessings  to you!

Doyle, what Iike about you is that you ask questions.  People who ask questions are cool and unafraid.  Doyle, you are cool and will always be cool.
We love ya!!
