OK I have a question what is the difference between saying thank you to God or Blessing Him? I really want to know! In most Church I have gone to they thank our Lord but you never hear them Blessing our Lord. I asked my Sunday school class they look it up and could not find a difference between the two. What got us away from giving Blessings? To me it means more to Bless someone then just to thank them! BLESSINGS,BLESSINGS,EVERYWHERE There is a Hebrew blessing for everything in this world. In prayer, praise, and thanksgiving, and for experiences of enjoyment. Each of them begins with a basic affirmation of God's sovereignty, "Blessed are You,O Lord our God,King of the universe," For example, upon hearing thunder, the prescribed blessing is: Blessed are You,O lord our God,King of the universe, whose might and power fill the world. On seeing a rainbow: ...who remembers the Covenant,is faithful to the Covenant and keeps His word. Blessings Are for Everyone
115:13 He will send blessings on the worshippers of the Lord, on the small and on the great. When the children came to Jesus,He touched them and He blessed them. He signified that a place in the kingdom of God comes about when people present themselves before their heavenly Father like little children. For us to receive God's greatest blessings, including a place in His kingdom,we need a childlike faith,a childlike curiosity, and a childlike humility. Remember in Matthew 5:1 And seeing great masses of people he went up into the mountain; and when he was seated his disciples came to him. 5:2 And with these words he gave them teaching, saying, 5:3 Happy are the poor in spirit: for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. 5:4 Happy are those who are sad: for they will be comforted. 5:5 Happy are the gentle: for the earth will be their heritage. 5:6 Happy are those whose heart's desire is for righteousness: for they will have their desire. 5:7 Happy are those who have mercy: for they will be given mercy. 5:8 Happy are the clean in heart: for they will see God. 5:9 Happy are the peacemakers: for they will be named sons of God. 5:10 Happy are those who are attacked on account of righteousness: for the kingdom of heaven will be theirs. 5:11 Happy are you when men give you a bad name, and are cruel to you, and say all evil things against you falsely, because of me. 5:12 Be glad and full of joy; for great is your reward in heaven: for so were the prophets attacked who were before you. Jesus tell about how we are Blessed or Happy. So I think we should Bless our Father in Heaven and sent blessing to one another it is far better then just saying thank you! Tell me what do you think? Do you remember the old hymn Count Your Blessings ? It went count your blessings;name them one by one.Count your many blessings;see what God hath done. So no matter the problem if you just sit and count your blessings you find out that you are truly blessed by our Father so should we not bless Him from were all blessings flow? I am truly blessed with The Lord's Love and love of family ! I am blessed by friends! I am Blessed to have you all as my Brothers and Sisters In Christ!!!!!!! I send you all my love and Blessings to you and pray The Lords Blessing upon you!!! What are your Blessings have you count them lately or has life just got in the way? GOD BLESS! |

Doyle, Thanks for the Valentine that sounded like it was written by a saint. I say sounded like because I don't know how you feel about saints. I feel they are people who talk a lot about God and Jesus and share in His testament. I wrote a short story this morning about children. If I get approval I will post it on the website. Happy Valentines Day and Blessed be the Lord and all those who worship Him. Connie |

IMHO- to thank God is to convey appreciation for what he's done. To bless him is to give him something of value, not that he needs anything, but in the attempt we give him a piece of our heart, perhaps the only thing he can't have w/o it being given to him. I don't know, how's that sound to you?
Doyle, you are a blessing to me, and I'm sure to many people. I love your heart!!! |

Doyle, Very good blog! You've received great comments, too.
I will add this, many of the blessings currently have been said for at least two thousand years, as they were started during Roman rule. The empahsis was on the responsibility for all creation by GOD. Today, these blessings remind us throughout the day that HE still cares for us and provides for us.
The Jews also said their BLESSING for meals AFTER the meals, not before. The word for blessing in Hebrew is brakha. The word suggets the proper form for prayer was on bended knee.
This is one of the many wonderful things about Jewish teachings, to me. They were really giving HIM honor, praise, and thanks for just about everything in life, since it does indeed come from HIM. These many blessings also reminded them to think about this fact--that HE did give them everything in life. The many blessings they said all the time and not just on one day of the week. You were right, they did have a blessing for just about everything and I think it was WONDERFUL!
Blessings to you! |
