Matthew: 4: 23-25 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of diseases among the people.
V24. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and healed them.
V25. And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judea, and from beyond Jordan.
Today I would like to talk about “Rumors”, I chose the word Rumor because all of us have been faced with, or have participated in Rumors!
A Rumor is a report of uncertain origin and accuracy; hearsay.
The above Scripture speaks of Jesus Christ the son of God who had come to this earth on his earthly journey to tell of the Kingdom of God and to bring the world to himself by his blood sacrifice.
Many of us have followed Jesus throughout the years and have come to the Knowledge of the truth! “YET none of us have ever seen him!”
Thus this is were the rubber meets the road!
What is it that drives us to spread the truth of Jesus?
Many of you are probably saying “Faith,” And you would be correct in that what you say, but faith is something that is based on an unseen truth.
It seems that many of us who have been a victim of the rumor mill or have victimized someone with them are more apt to follow something false than something that is truth! We can see in this community and all across the country people spreading rumors more than the Gospel of Jesus Christ “ the one we say we believe”
The Christian community is fast becoming more privy to “The Rumor Mill” more than the gospel mill, In this sermon I aim to give you a few reasons for this and than prayerfully give you a sure cure for the rumor mill.
1. We are more privy to the rumor mill because we are “Hypocrites” ( A person that professes to be something they are not)Mathew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
A lot of times Christians that say they are saved and are washed in the blood of the lamb will act the part in church, they say “ They love the Lord” But will not speak for the Lord! They say we are Brothers and sisters in Christ, but will cut their brother and sister up with rumors! “Forgetting that the Bible says in Galatians 6:1- Bretheren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, least thou also be tempted.
2. We are more privy to the rumor mill because of “ Apostasy”
( You have departed from the faith) and are no longer contenders of the faith!
Jude v3- Beloved , when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was ounce delivered unto the saints.
The Bible is being fulfilled on a daily basis , and unfortunately Christians are falling right into it without counting the coast! The bible says in 1Timothy 4: 1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits , and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3. We are more privy to the rumor mill because of our “EGO”(Selfish Ways)
Many of us who are saved , have become carnal, and have reverted back to a natural way of being, forgetting that we are Spiritual and supernatural people!
1 Corinthians 2:14- But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:
For they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
A carnal person is always apt to cling to the ear tickling rumors which takes the focus off of them, and places there sins on the back burner.
This leaves them to be less faithful to the things of God.
Hear we have given three reasons why people cleave to the rumor mill.
1. Hypocrisy
2.Apostasy
3.Ego
It would be of no service to give you these without a solid solution
So hears a point to ponder.
In our beginning text we see that the people saw what Jesus did, and what he was capable of doing.
Most of you who are reading this have never seen God with the naked eye, nor has any of us seen Jesus Christ do anything.
(YET WE BELIEVE WHO HE SAYS HE IS)
And it is this my friends that will keep you from the Rumor Mill!
“FAITH”
Hebrews 11:1-3- Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen
For by faith the elders obtained a good report.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Let us follow “FAITH”, which is the sure way we can follow the Gospel Mill!
Paul Wrote in 1 Corinthians 2:2- For I am determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ , and him crucified.
Let us Follow the Gospel Mill and go tell the world of Jesus Christ!
