You know how, no matter how dark it is, you always know how to get around your own room? It is so familiar to you that you can get out of bed in the middle of the night, go to your kitchen for something to drink, get back in bed and hardly ever open your eyes. It is nearly impossible to get lost in a space you have such intimate knowledge of. And yet, a lot of us, who love GOD with all our hearts, end up stumbling around, stubbing our toes, trying to navigate our lives in his house.
Kicking a chair leg in the dark hurts a little, but is nothing compared to that sudden rush of surprise and fear when it happens. Surprise, because we didn't expect that chair to be there and we are jolted from our comfort zone. Fear, because if we didn't know about this chair, then what else don't we know about and ultimately, are we even sure about where we are? The idea of waking up someplace unfamiliar when you thought you were in your own home terrifies most of us. But how we respond in that moment of terror makes all the difference in the world.
Recently, I have found myself feeling around in the dark for signs of familiarity in my walk with Christ. I have bumped into a few walls and been confronted with that eerie feeling of realizing I'm lost and can't see anything in the dark. What now?:
"I have not given you a spirit of fear." Don't panic.
"Seek ye first the kingdom of GOD and his righteousness.." What are you looking for ?
"I am" GOD never changes, only our perspective does. You need to be re-calibrated not your compass. 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of Jehovah is risen upon thee. 60:2 For, behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but Jehovah will arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 60:3 And nations shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
Some days it's hard to pray. Some-days the words get stuck in my chest and I feel spiritually impotent. But GOD!!!!! He sees us when we are lost and cold and hungry and his marvelous light shows us the way home.
" The Lord is my Sheppard......."
Fear not my fellow sheep, we will be found. Look toward the Sheppard's Glory.
