| WHAT IF I STUMBLE |
|
| |
"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today Is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable." -DC Talk
I HEARD THAT QUOTE TODAY, RIGHT BEFORE A SONG PLAYED THAT I HAVE NEVER HEARD BEFORE. AMAZING WHEN A SONG CAN CAPTIVATE YOU, CONVICT YOU, AND MAKE YOU PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND JUST BE STILL AND LISTEN. THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME THIS MORNING. THE NAME OF THE SONG IS "WHAT IF I STUMBLE" BY DC TALK - ALBUM "JESUS FREAK"
AS I LISTENED TO THIS SONG IT MADE ME REALIZE THAT AS CHRISTIANS WE ARE FACED WITH THE SAME, IF NOT MORE HARDSHIPS AS MANY NON-CHRISTIANS ARE FACED WITH, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REACT AND RESPOND TO OUR SITUATION IN A WAY THAT WOULD LEAVE A GOOD EXAMPLE TO THOSE AROUND US. WE ARE HUMAN, WE MESS UP, AND WE ALL FALL SHORT OF HIS GLORY. BUT, ISN'T IT JUST AWSOME THAT WE SERVE A GOD THAT IS SO LOVING AND FORGIVING , AND THAT HE IS ABLE TO PICK US UP WHEN WE STUMBLE, BRUSH THE DIRT OFF OF US WHEN WE FALL, AND JUST LOVE US WHEN WE LEAST DESERVE IT?
I PONDER THIS TODAY IN COMPLETE AWE, AND WONDER TO MYSELF... WHAT IN THE WORLD DID I EVER DO TO DESERVE SUCH A MERCIFUL AND AMAZING FATHER..... THE ANSWER TO THAT IS.... NOTHING...ABSOLUTLY NOTHING. "I" MYSELF DID NOTHING TO WARRANT SUCH A BEAUTIFUL GIFT. TAKE A MOMENT FROM YOU BUSY DAY TODAY AND JUST SIT IN WONDROUS REFLECTION, AND LET IT REALLY SINK IN. WE HAVE A LORD WHO ALLOWED HIS ONE AND ONLY PERFECT SINLESS SON TO DIE FOR US. JESUS STOOD IN THE GAP, HE RECONCILED US BACK TO OUR FATHER SO THAT WE COULD SPEND ETERNITY WITH HIM.
IF YOUR ABLE TO, TRY TO LOCATE THIS SONG, ON ITUNES, OR GET THE CD. IT REALLY OPENED ANOTHER WHOLE DOOR OF APPRECIATION IN MY LIFE ABOUT HOW MUCH I AM LOVED BY MY FATHER EVEN WHEN I LEAST DESERVE IT.
Is this one for the people? Is this one for the Lord? Or do I simply serenade for things I must afford? You can jumble them together, my conflict still remains Holiness is calling, in the midst of courting fame
Cause I see the trust in their eyes Though the sky is falling They need Your love in their lives Compromise is calling
(chorus) What if I stumble, what if I fall? What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all? Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl? What if I stumble, and what if I fall?
What if I stumble, what if I fall? You never turn in the heat of it all What if I stumble, what if I fall?
Father please forgive me for I can not compose The fear that lives within me Or the rate at which it grows If struggle has a purpose On the narrow road you've carved Why do I dread my trespasses will leave a deadly scar
Do they see the fear in my eyes? Are they so revealing? This time I cannot disguise All the doubt I'm feeling
(repeat chorus)
I hear You whispering my name [You say] "My love for You will never change" [never change]
(repeat chorus 2x)
What if I stumble, what if I fall? You never turn in the heat of it all What if I stumble, what if I fall? You are my comfort, and my God

| Awesome song Tammy! I just listened to that one myself a few days ago. This message fits well with what the Lord put before my eyes this morning, Rom 8:8 - Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. Like the song says, if they claim to represent Christ yet are not controlled by the Spirit, they make a mockery of Jesus, and us too it seems. Good blog! ~mike |

Thanks guys, its not too often, I am just compelled to blog the moment I walk into my office, but the Lord just blessed me with that song on the way to work, and it just kinda lit a fire in me, opened my eyes to a renewed appreciation for my Jesus, and I just had to share the moment. God bless - Tam |
