Jenily, great counsel you've given your daughter. "What about me" is a life-long lesson, we continue to learn it till the day we depart this life!

It's a wonderful lesson  to Vanessa (a 5yr old child who needs to get ready for real world). Now, I have a question "What do you tell an adult...that has always thought of "others", served "others", helped "others", loved "others" unconditionally and sacrificed "self" throughout their entire life "including childhood, adoloscence, and now part of adulthood". I already know the answer "You have to keep on doing what you're doing", but isn't it hard to watch others in their adulthood to claim to know the lesson, but always think of "self" and yet receive all the Blessed riches from heaven? What do you say to a loyal Christian then?

Dear Elizabeth, I’m trying to answer your question without making another blog…hahahahaha (you know I speak a lot)

First.- bible says Love God above all things, then love your neighbor as yourself. When you love God, immediately you start obeying His commands. So you serve others in live not according to their performance, but because you feel Glad and happy in doing it because God is honored!

Why you should look other? We do not compare ourselves to anybody different than Jesus. You are not trying to be anybody but Jesus. In the road of life you’ll say “I’m happy because I’m making God happy” David said: “No te dare nada que no me cueste”.

Romans says “Present your body as a living sacrifice” I said again SACRIFICE, it’s not easy, but then you realize that everything you do is for God …you will feel happy. The big failure of many people in life is that they want to “do good”, serve other, but they haven’t experience an encounter with the love of God… You won’t love the unlovable if you do not love God first.

I know many people “prosper” doing their own thing. One day I felt betrayed for somebody and it make me so mad seen how they “prosper”. Until I learned that the Bible commands me to:

1.      Do not be envious of those who do wrong;

2.      Trust in the LORD and do good;  Delight yourself in the LORD  and he will give you the desires of your heart. 3.      Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him  4.      Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;  do not fret when men succeed in their ways,  when they carry out their wicked schemes. 5.      Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.

For evil men will be cut off; but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
For the power of the wicked will be broken; but the LORD uphold the righteous.

Sometime I wanted to “uphold” myself and do something about…it was because I wasn’t trusting God in that matter...He will upholds me!

Jenily, Great life lesson and you are doing a wonderful job raising your daughter.  You said
"It's not about you..others!" and I can't agree more, its not about me but others.  Thanks for the lesson and reminder!

Jenily~

On my post, My Flesh is Negative, How About Yours? I was just answering a question from R about what is the flesh. Then I saw this and put a link back to yours because it so perfectly illustrates the flesh in operation and how we overcome it! We are on the same page again!

Thanks for a great lesson!

Jenily,

You are an amazing mother.  It's not always easy to put "others" first but it is a great reminder.  Thanks!

Teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older, they will remain upon it.

you can’t find happiness for yourself  by yourself

I wish I had understood this about 30 years ago.

When you do your part, God is able to work in your favor.

Jenily, you are one wise woman.  Thanks for sharing.  God helps me when you share.

It sounds like you teach your children well. When my children were young I taught them in the same way you are. When the grew into their teens I taught the same thing but with different words: Whatever your job is, for money or for God, you primary purpose is to make your boss look good. We do that for God by living according to His will. We do that by helping others to succeed. I'm sure your children will grow up wanting to help others succeed.
