 PASTOR'S UPDATE
MISSION MEAL The church is a beehive of activity today. Tonight the Mission Team is putting on their special meal to help raise funds for their Mexico trip this year. They are going all out, they are going with an Italian evening theme and people attending will think they have dined at a fine restaurant. Why do they go to all this trouble? They want to go to a school for deaf children in Mexico and spend a week in very hard labor and high temperatures. The love of Christ motivates them and they want to make a difference for God's kingdom. If you can't make it tonight but would like to have a part in this effort we will receive a special offering for this trip on Sunday April 6th.
QUESTIONS Thanks to the stomach flu I was unable to finish my sermon series last Sunday. The Lord willing I will finish up the series this Sunday. The final message in this series looks at the question Jesus asks on the cross, "My God, my God why have You forsaken me?" This is one of the most intriguing questions in all of the Bible. What did Jesus mean? Was He doubting God? Was His humanity taking over? Was He experiencing Hell there on the cross? Did God truly turn away from His son? I know that in a 30 minute sermon we will not answer all of these questions, but hopefully we will get you started on your own Biblical search. I do think we will find some truth we can apply to out lives. Hope you will join us Sunday for this last sermon in the series on Questions. Sunday PM Chris will be preaching sermon "Wilderness Warriors" Next Sunday AM Chris will be preaching the sermon entitled, "Removing The Veil" Next Sunday PM Mike Norman from Beckly will be speaking for us New Sermon Series

I was sick last weekend with the stomach flu, yuk :0 While laying on the couch in the living room the wind storm arrived and promptly lifted a big tree in our backyard. As I was laying there I thought I was Dorthy in the Wizard of OZ. I was asking the tree man why the tree popped out of the ground and the others didn't? He said it was two things. First the root system, on pine trees the roots spread out instead of down like an oak. So there was much of a foundation. Secondly the pine had a lot of greenery with which the wind could catch and push it over, all the oaks had shed their leaves and wind passed right through. The preacher in me saw a great illustration. Why do some people fall and others don't? 1. No spiritual foundation (Beware when you think you stand less you fall) 2. Too much excess baggage (Love not the world nor things that are in the world) Am I building a deep spiritual foundation and being careful about becoming things focused? Got to go lunch is ready, hope to see you Sunday. |
