This is so true.  This is a part of my personal life with my ex-spouse and in ministry.  The progression can move to clubs, strip-clubs, prostitution, and child pornography.  This grows to rape and then child rape in some cases.

Teach your children not to casually engage in any of these activities via the web, t.v., movies, etc....The devastation is without words!

This is an excellent source of information.  This topic is especially sensitive for me since I have had a family member that has struggled with it.  Thank you for sharing all of this info!

Thank you, Doyle, for the star to my blog!  Thanks for taking the time to read my newest blog.

Thank you, Cheryl, for your star and comment to this blog.  My last blog, before this one, is about Intimacy, Love, and Commitment. I thought this would be a proper place to write about a subject that can interfere with real intimacy between a husband and a wife (or even a future husband and wife).  I know that you know many times sex is confused with intimacy.

As you pointed out in your comment, from your own experience through your personal life and ministry, that sex can really get out of hand FAST and lead to paths that a person would never ever dream it could.  Just like many seemingly "innocent" things, pornography can lead to pure misery and loss of all that is important.

Thank you for listing part of the downward spiral which you included--clubs to possible child rape. (there can be many things inbetween--as you noted)

I would also so like to add, murder could also be on the list, especially when rape, molestation, and child rape are involved.

Thank you so much for taking time to read the blog and to add your very insightful comment!

I'm sure this blog will bless and help many who read it.  We live in such a pornographic society.  Take a walk and you're subjected to see quite a bit of soft core pornography.  Turn on the TV and THERE IT IS.  I've practically stopped going to movies because I know I'll probably be bombarded with  both soft and hard core pornography.  (My daughter tells me all the time, "Mother, you just have to learn how to tune it out, look past it or you'll never go to the movies.")  But how do you just ignore the stuff.  Yes, lives are damaged by it.  "Girls Gone Wild" as well as all the other "porno" they are exposed to on a daily basis, practically everywhere they go are turning some of our children into "little monsters" because they are confused, angry, and being forced to grow up much too fast.  And it's damaging to their hearts, bodies, and souls.  But I, like you, praise God today that bondages can be broken and damaged lives can be restored.

Thank you Yahschild's.  Thank you very much.  I'm going to subscribe because I don't want to miss another article you share.

Always in His Love,

Deb, Thank you so much for your star and comment to my blog.

I know that you have a family member who struggled with this and I sincerely hope they are able to break the bondage of pornography at some point soon, if they have not already.  Bondage of this type really hurts so many people, not only the one addicted to pornography.  I know they don't begin with the intention of hurting others or themselves, but they do.

I appreciate your taking the time to read this blog and I am glad that you found it an excellent source for information.  We never know, a blog that someone writes might help someone along the way, even if we never know it did.  I know you write some really informative blogs, too!

Thanks, Deb, for your encouragement.

Yahschild-
This blog is just incredible! My wish is that every man on this site would at least see this blog, then decide whether or not it applies or may benefit them. That 40% figure might even be on the low side, many folks (mostly guys) are so private about their porn viewing. This is excellent info, I especially like the 4 elements to breaking the stronghold. I hope I may copy this and distribute to the men of my small group. Would that be ok? (Should I credit you as the author, or was it written by someone else?) Thanks again!!  ~mike

Jean, Thank you so much for your star and comment. I also appreciate that you are a subscriber to my blogs.  Thanks!  I hope  the information contained in this blog will bless and help people, as you suggest it might.

We certainly do live in a pornographic society, that's for sure. I agree that it's sad the children are exposed to much at such a very early age and many never really know true innocence anymore. I am sure this does add to the confusion and anger of the children of today, as you said. Not only are they subjected to seeing and hearing too much through media but their "role models" often are caught up in the web of pornographic material themselves. Therefore they are not taught it's degrading and dangerous.  Yes, you and I agree about this.

I am in agreement with you in prayer and praise that bondage will be broken and lives restored!  Thank you, Jean, for all you do in your ministry and for the encouraging comments to my blog!  Blessings to you!

Joey, Thank you so much for your star and comment to this blog.

Yes, the bondage of pornography certainly can destroy a person, the spirit of a marriage, and the spiritual relationship with the Father.  Indeed it can break hearts, more than the heart of the one in bondage!

I'm sorry about your friend.  I do hope things turn out/turned out well for her.  I almost wanted to cry myself when I read how this must have hurt, even though you did not use many words--I could feel the pain!

Please know I appreciate your comment and encouragement.

Mike,  Thank you for taking time to read my blog.  I appreciate the star and the great comment.

Yes, I think  the 40% figure might be low, but at least it is not exaggerated for someone to think it unfair.  I wish that all the guys on MyChurch would see it, too.  My purpose was  bring attention to the consequences of dabbling in something so dangerous--if people currently are dabbling with it or are tempted to in the future.

I also wish guys would leave comments about the subject for discussion, from a man's viewpoint. I was not picking on men, but since men are so visual, usually it is men that are more tempted by pornography.

Thank you for stating your appreciation of the 4 elements to breaking the stronghold.   I've researched over the years.  I did not know there was such a thing as a blog at the time I did much research.  So, I don't have the name of the person that I got some of my information from.  I did state in the blog that this was the case,  in this instance.   I am very careful to give credit for information when I know who to give credit to.  You will notice this in my previous blogs.

Since we are not trying to make money off the information and are only trying to help get information out to those with the bondage of pornography, you certainly have my permission to use it and you do not have to give credit to me. It's simply a combination of information and thoughts  about a very important subject.

I appreciate your taking time to leave a comment. I  hope someone can be helped along the way by the information.

Arlene,  I thank you so much for your star and comment.  I am encouraged by your appreciation of the things I write blogs about.

Yes, unfortunately the young people are definitely a target by the enemy.  It's sad that almost anything that can be useful and used for good purposes are also used "big time" by the enemy.  I know many parents try to watch the things their children are exposed to, but more and more parents seem to be too busy to pay the attention required to ALL the many varied activities the children are involved in.  Sometimes I think the parents are just too tired to fight it.  Then, you have those that just don't think anything bad could be allowed in programs, games, music, or other activities for children.  You made a great point when you mentioned all these activities in your comment, Arlene!

Yes, I agree that more and more women will likely become involved in the bondage of pornography, especially (as you mentioned in comment) being exposed to it at earlier age.

Your statement in your comment, "I believe with every addiction comes one or more demons...its not just physical and mental....its Spiritual warfare. When you invite these sins in your heart and mind..its not just thoughts and actions your giving into, or inviting in...its the enemy." is truly thought provoking.  I thank you for bringing this up.  If our blogs or comments to a blog can only help someone think, or give someone renewed hope, or help someone feel they are not alone!

I appreciate your taking time to read the blog and for your well thought out comment.  Great comment.

Cheryl, You are welcome to come back all you want. I know there are many areas on this subject that could be brought out for discussion. I did not post this blog to be negative toward men or the women that are involved in what the men are looking at. However, since the lure is so strong it's very easy to get caught up in it. (Wonder why the color option for the comment is not available right now??) Thanks for your comment, Cheryl.

I am happy to see you are continuing to keep alive a very important subject. I believe I wrote one or two "blogs" on this subject. Or spoke to others on my feelings concerning this cancer of our society. I also remember writing back and forth to you, Yathschild, on this problem.
I am no different than any other man. I love to look as any other. however, we must look at what is right or wrong. Clearly, pornography is wrong for this and any other society. Women read "romance novels" for their escape. a little different. But, still the "soft" answer to their escape from reality.
Let's look at this "freedom of Expression" idea many quote.
The Constitution says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and petition the government for redress of grievances.

Please show me where "expression" is mentioned there!! This was added by the "left wing" of our government to display some kid of an idea of "art", or what "they" call art.
As mentioned. You may, in certain ways. Limit wrongful speech. But, art is off the table with these goons of politics.

I bought a book called, "Porn Generation" by Ben Shapiro. Though it has "explicit lyrics" in part to give examples to what we are up against. Mr Shapiro gives answers in "Taking a Stand" showing what, at least can be started to turn this filth around so our children and grandchildren can have at least a chance of a decent life as we did.

It was the main selection of the Conservative Book Club when I bought it a couple years ago. there is also an address of Regnery Publishing, Inc., One Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20001 (202)-216-0600  www.regnery.com
I would love to see a "Grass-roots Org" get started which we Christians can make a move to put a stop to this crime on humanity!!

I really like a lot of the things mentioned here.  Very insightful.

Accountability is one of the biggest key's to freedom.  Accountability is an extension of our repentant hearts because often one of the roots to pornography temptation and addiction is an unhealthy fixation on self and an unnnatural independence.

I've written more on the power of accountability in our company's blog, Breaking Free.

Thanks for mentioning James 5:16.  It has become one of the most powerful verses for me in my journey towards freedom.  I've writte a short testimony.  Click here to read it.

For those who are looking for accountability in this technological age, I invite anyone to go to www.covenanteyes.com and enter promocode 'onefree' to receive a free 30 day trial of the program. That promo code is open to anyone who wants it!  Use the technology available to you to fight the temptation to view porn.

Golden 2100, Thank you for reading this blog and for your star and comment!

I appreciate that you gave the link for the book, which sounds very informative! I also agree with you that a grassroots movement would certainly be great to have.  The problem of pornography is growing daily and the saddest thing is that it's reaching the young people at a very young age, as mentioned in a comment to this blog.  Apathy is part of the problem.  It's just easier to ignore it.

I appreciate, that as a man, you were courageous and posted blogs on the subject as well as a comment on this blog!  I applaud your contribution!  I can certainly understand that a man  being tempted in today's society.

Your statement in your comment, "I am no different than any other man. I love to look as any other. however, we must look at what is right or wrong. Clearly, pornography is wrong for this and any other society. Women read "romance novels" for their escape. a little different. But, still the "soft" answer to their escape from reality." is very telling.  Thank you for admitting that as a man (and a human) you do like to look but also pointed out that there is right and wrong!  And yes, as you pointed out, women do read the romance novels,  that have become increasingly filthy.

I realize the problem is multi-layered and very complex.  It involves both men and women.

Your statement, "Please show me where "expression" is mentioned there!! This was added by the "left wing" of our government to display some kid of an idea of "art", or what "they" call art. As mentioned. You may, in certain ways. Limit wrongful speech. But, art is off the table with these goons of politics." also points out that many of the rights our country was founded on, is being twisted around and now the rights of the moral, conservatives are being swept away for the protection of the blatant filth of the world to be freely expressed and pushed into the face of those not interested in seeing or hearing it.  Have you tried to watch tv, movies, or even drive down the street without being blasted with it???  Yes, I know that you know the problem--I was just saying this to make a point.

Thank you Golden, for taking time to leave all the interesting, helpful information in your comment.  I really do appreciate you and your willingness to express your opinion about this very serious matter.

As they say, "Flattery will get you everywhere!" I am flattered that you see the world as I do. I used to give money when my kids were small to a group started by none other than Steve Allen. The funny guy we used to enjoy so much. So many wonderful years ago. He had tried to stop this garbage on nationwide TV. He died and the group became history. The churches have very little, if any affect on this subject. Lots of talk. But no action. Nothing new there. We have Christian people out there who have enough money to start such a group as spoken of. Just claiming, you can shut the porn off. Or change the channel will not do in my book. It has to go. We need Christian lawyers and people who are not afraid to take a stand for what is holy. Many say,"Well, I don't allow this in my livingroom. Well, fine and dandy. Many children and grownups with the minds of children are exposed to this garbage every day. Don't let us just think about our backyard. The stink is permeating all over the neighborhoods. The best way for evil to prosper is, for good men to do nothing! Lets keep this subject alive and pray some of the Pastors who have churches with money in their treasuries who really want to put the money where their mouths are will pledge to help. You can buy that new car next year Pastor!!

My favorite quote here is, "Fantasy does not satisfy." That could be a whole 'nother blog and I would guess probably a bigger trap for women than for men. Addiction to this is rampant in women.

God help us all!

JayKTX, Thank you so much for reading this blog and for the star and comment.

You are right, fantasy does not satisfy and it could be a whole 'nother blog! :)  Often the fantasy makes a person even less satisfied with what they HAVE, which often may be they have a GREAT wife or husband, but the wife or husband seems less than enough after all the fantasy!

You are also right that addiction to this is very common in women, too.  Often the lure of money or ego of being "looked at" starts the downward spiral of the trap.  I'm afraid more and more women will become addicted to all of this.

CHILDREN are  being exposed to this at early ages, these days.  Sad to say that children are used for pornography and often there is more than fantasy involved before it's over.  They are downright abused and sometimes used as sex slaves.

I think many people that begin viewing pornography
do not start out with the intention or knowledge that it GROWS and takes more and more, just like drug addiction--then, they are hooked. (They begin, being curious and wanting to have a little fun.)

I believe husbands and wifes can have fun together in the bedroom, but when you start depending on fantasy and inviting some things into your life, you are asking for trouble.

Thank you for your comment!

Let me just mention a couple suggestions found in Mr. Shapiro's fine book, "Porn Generation" for those who have not received their copy as yet.

Ideas such as:  School vouchers: It's time to take our schools back. We can do this by pushing for school vouchers, allowing parents to make informed decisions about the values they wish schools to teach to their children. Competitive pressure can only help move public schools away from teaching amorality.

Dress codes: Public schools should begin (and have begun) instituting dress codes. Permissiveness in dress is an early and important step toward permissiveness in values.

Using the Federal Communications Commission: The Federal Communications Commission has some authority to control obscenity and indecency. The FCC requires written complaints from viewers in order to invoke its powers. To that end, here is the contact information for the FCC;

           FCC

Enforcement Bureau, Investigation and Hearing Division

          445 12th Street, SW

         Washington, D.C. 20554

        EMAIL; fccinfo@fcc.gov

                             1-888-TELL-FCC   (1-888-835-5322)

There are many more ideas in this book and I hope you care enough to get it and lets work together to make a difference. we can't do enough to leave our world a little better.  God bless!!

Golden 2100, Thank you for pointing out the worn out phrases, "you can just shut it off" or "change the channel".  I do believe in protecting the right to free speech but find the double standard concerning the way believer's "voices" are being threatened--very troubling.

As you point out, there are believers with money, very intelligent lawyers who are believers, and there should be some way to stop this trash in being the accepted thing to do even in cartoons, children's programming, and in what is called family shows.  I know it's not hard porn, but it is not something a child or mentally challenged adult will necessarily KNOW to turn off.  What about a child that wakes in the night and scans the channels.  We do have parental control but not everyone uses that.  I've even heard some parents say it was just too complicated to screen out with parental controls.

I can remember when it was unacceptable to show a pregnant woman on television.  I'm not implying things should go that far, but we've really let things get OUT OF HAND in our acceptance of what we see and hear. What will be "acceptable" next????

I don't have all the answers, but you have added some important things for concerned people to think about.  I appreciate your effort to help me bring this subject to encourage other believer's to think about possible solutions.  I'm sorry it took awhile to respond to your comment.  Know that I do welcome your input.

I was very anxious to report my latest find. Having a small but well stacked library. I took to researching this problem wondering if there was just such an organization we are looking for. A Christian fellowship that is working with actual success. I am so happy to report I found just the one. i am also ashamed I did not know about it sooner.
I checked my "American Conservatism Encyclopedia" and found the "Family Research Council" started by James Dobson in 1980 on Christian faith principals.
I urge all interested on helping to make this world just a little better to go to their web site. I Googled them. But www.frc.org should get you right to them.
You can sign up for e-mails and also give a donation. I did, but I'm sure your interest will be welcomed. Let's all pray this Leeds to better family life in our great country.

I must say, We owe it to this lady here that got me more interested in bringing you this information. I have so many irons in the fire. I would not have worked just that much harder had I not found someone who was as interested in doing something about our Christian ideals as she is.  God bless!!

Broken, Thank you for taking time to read this blog and for leaving a star and comment. I appreciate Cheryl for posting a link to it, too. She and I both are very concerned with the problem with pornography in our world today.

I will definitely have you in my prayers.

I applaud your decision that you would rather live with the opinion of others, which certainly differ from your own. It takes real wisdom, courage, and the love of the Savior to be "set apart" from the ever popular "worldly" ways. I truly hope that some of the tips in this blog and/or other's will encourage you!

I encourage you to keep up the good fight. I know it's hard to avoid the ever present pornographic images and talk but you are heading in the right direction through prayer and confession.

Im wondering where my friend Yahschild is. Hope your endeavors are succeeding at this time. I know only a couple on this site who can keep up with my knowledge of the true Lord. I have been getting e-mail from The family Research Council as well as regular mail. I do pray I live long enough to see this country turn back to where it was when I was young. But, we a re living in the "End Times" and it is said it would be this way.
God is separating the true flock. There are so many black sheep. I see their blogs every day. Not just here. But on other "Christian" sites.
i am not one to point fingers and do always pray for fools such as I have seen. There are many "lost" sheep here also. I guess that is what is keeping me around.
I watched some television last night. I couldn't believe some of the tripe I saw. I won't even give a rundown. It's too depressing.
If you would like to link to my page. I do have at least one blog on pornography. I don't have all the answers. However, I don't think it is such a bad idea to have a man on your side. Let me know what you plan on doing to put a dent in the scourge we now see all around us.

I find it only fitting for me to comment on this blog.
Most of the points I make on here are simply furtherances of points in your blog,
but I feel compelled to make them.

First off, may I point out the growing but silent number of women addicted to pornography.
While to men, it is common and assumed that they view porn, women must hide ashamed in the corner.
Teen boys brag about the levels of porn they have seen, and though the girl standing next to him has him beat, she keeps quiet.
The sad thing is, that competition really happens.

I myself was addicted to porn from age 6 to 15.
You mention in your blog about children starting at young ages, well I'm living proof of that, as well as the strength of the bondage itself.
When I first began, I wasn't looking for an addiction, I was simply curious.
And, as you stated, I started out with the softest of porns.
But as I grew older, my addiction grew stronger.
And the level of satisfaction grew higher.
I needed more, and harder porns.
It took me nine years to break free.
Countless tears, prayers, nights on my face, and more.
But I personally owe my freedom to the power of acountabilty in Christ.
It wasn't until others found out about this bondage, and helped me in my struggle, did I make it out of the darkness.
I encourage all of you who struggle with this addiction, please, talk to someone.
I know from experience that is the hardest, and last thing you want to do.
Ecspecially for girls.
But hiding in the darkness only hurts you more. I promise.
Open up to a trusted loved one.
And let the power of God work through them and you.
Allow God to take those years of pain and work to glorify his name.

[Also, for those struggling to break free from addiction. Check out Every Young Man's Battle or Every Young Woman's Battle, which ever relates to you. I read both books, and they were extremely helpful to my healing process.]

It has been a little over a year now since God broke my shakles.
And it is now that I am just starting to open up more about this past.
But I have seen first hand what God can do to turn that pain around.

I testified to the girls in my youth group a few months back.
And that night, I saw five girls come forth, and get healed from this addiction.
Those of you who are healing, speak out to those around you!
Get over your pride and what people may think of you,
Someone's healing is waiting on you!!

There is times I'm still very ashamed, and still hurt alot from those scars.
As you said, drugs and alcohol will wash out of your bloodstream, but a picture is ingrained forever.
I have worked with God continually to bring complete restoration of my purity.
I praise him continually that I never reached a level which compromised my purity outside myself.
[aka, I am wholly and completely pure when it comes to men in my life]
Turn now, before it is too late.
Like most of the comments on here have stated,
it is a downward spirial.
I praise God that I can now call myself Pure, Whole, Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb! I represent the Righteoussness of God, I am a Daughter of the Most High King! I am Covered, Forgiven, and Restored!

As far as the last few comments which were directed towards finding a cure for our society,
Know there is hope within my generation.
I know so many teens pushing for purity in our day and time.
I also have a myspace, in addition to my mychurch account.
When the organization was first started, many of the adds on the website were pornographically related.
It became very hard for me to long on and not to succome to temptation.
But about a year ago, an group of teen on myspace joined together to get rid of these filthy ads.
And guess what.
They succeeded.
Now a large part of the ads I see are from christian organizations.
Which fully amazes me.
Glory to God!!

The generation God is raising up has more power than any other generation before in history.
And they are quickly learning if they want to make a difference, they can!
Hallelujah!
Praise God for the raising of a David Generation, one that will not stop at seeking the will of God,
But will push through until they see his face, shining upon their purity, united they stand.

Hannah,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog and for your very honest, informative comment. I PRAISE YAHWEH for your coming through all that victoriously! You certainly make it clear that the "lure" of it all is simply a LIE and that it is not peace nor happiness!  You certainly told your story in such an honest, open way.  I appreciate it more than you know.

Even though you nor I may never know it--our willingness to talk about a difficult subject may help someone.  Especially a testimony such as you told through this comment.  I also appreciate the titles to the books!

Everything you wrote was so helpful.  I especially loved
your statement, "I praise God that I can now call myself Pure, Whole, Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb! I represent the Righteousness of God, I am a Daughter of the Most High King! I am Covered, Forgiven, and Restored!"

Halleluyah!  Be blessed, Hannah!
