Some days just stand out. On Saturday, Greg and I drove through the rain to share the afternoon with Abbie, Dave and Jack. Greg and I spent over three hours just watching Jack, and laughing; so much that my side hurt! A month ago, he was walking; now he is running.
His smile is fetching and he seems to revel in his power over the two of us...
Dave had a basketball game going and that little boy was intensely watching that game, just like his Daddy. After awhile, Jack picked up a small, red plastic bat. He would take bat and point it at the TV and jabber at the players, then he would look over his shoulder and jabber a bit. Quickly, he would turn back to the players and point that bat and just jabber away, as if were coaching them. He would do this over and over. Once in while, he would the bat down, walk over to the front of the TV and stand there with his hands on his hips watching the players. He repeated the process until the game was over. We ended the day by taking them for Mexican food. It's hard for a Gram to watch her one year old Grandson smile as he ate hot sauce and chips until tears ran down his cheeks... I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!
These moments are treasures; gifts from the Lord. I must capture each one of them so that when I'm very old, I can read my words and laugh once more. And maybe, just maybe... Jack will laugh with me. |

Lara: He DOES the funniest things. His Mom? Oh my word, once she decided she wanted to look like me. So she cut hair off. The she was horrified !!! She said, "I look like a boy!!!!" She had braces then. Before that, she slicked her hair back because she wanted to look like her Papa, the Methodist Minister. I'm not surprised.... that child is apt to anything! And I shall be laughing! |

| Being a grandparent is truly a special blessing from Our Father. It still amazes me at how absolutely perfect they are, well that's how I see it! My daughter disagrees but I told her just wait you'll be a grandmother one day and they will be perfect too! |

Yahschild: You got the message from my blog. The gift; the experiences we have as we through our lives. If we're not careful, we miss them. When we're young, we are so busy getting to the places we think we want to be, raising our childen, trying to make ends meet that some we don't have time to sit back and watch them because we're caring for them. I love being a Gram! |

I'm with you Joey. We have three Grand-kids now and they are truly blessings. The youngest Grandson's favorite game is to wait until you are settled on the couch, he will ask for juice or a snack, then run like crazy to take your seat once you get up. I swear the boy moves at the speed of sound.

Randy, he sounds a sneak! My little used to that. She had reddish hair and freckles. She had command of the house. She was seven years younger than me.
I have only Jack for now and he fills my heart to the brim with his love. He is indeed a blessing! |

| You said something in your comments that rings so true when your girls were so small you were so busy raising them & sometimes we do just that,we get so busy that we do not take the time to treasure & enjoy our kids when they are growing up.I see that in hindsight as I have 1 granddaughter by my oldest daughter & my younger daughter is getting ready to graduate. We"ll still have 3 kids at home & I need to remeber not to get so busy that I do see tehm for the treasure they are. |

You're so right! We still have Sydney at home. She's seventeen. I've been able to observe, and learn more about her now than in the early years when we were all going in different directions. I love to watch her put her make-up on, ask her about her day, etc. Thank you for bring that up! |
