| God has answered a prayer! |
|
| |
My friend Brian took a huge step tonight. After 20 years of smoking, he made the decision to quit.
I, along with a few friends, have been praying for God to give him the strength to quit since last summer. It appears that our persistence has paid off.
Earlier tonight, while at our small group bible study, we all agreed to go on a 40 day fast from whatever we felt we needed to give up in our lives. We went around the room and told what we wanted to give up. Brian first said coffee, but after a little encouragement from the group, agreed that smoking was his biggest problem. He proceeded to take the remaining cigarrettes out of his pocket and throw them into the trash. Steve, another member of our group, took the hint and agreed to quit also. I was blown away! I couldn't be more proud of them.
I am hoping that when the 40 days are over, they will not return to this nasty habit.
I am asking everyone who reads this blog to pray for Brian and Steve. I know smoking is a very difficult addiction to give up. In fact, I ask that you pray for our entire group, as we all need help with our issues. We can use all the help we can get!
Take care and God Bless!!!!!!!!!!! Jeff H aka Hutch |

You got it Jeff! Great thing to do together! Lord I pray that you encourage them as they have put themselves in a position to be weak to show your strength. I pray that all of these brothers that have chosen to fast that you would shine through their weaknesses and provide the strength and desire to have better temples where you will dwell. What a noble cause! I praise you Father for their great obedience! In Jesus Name I pray and ask AMEN |

I am so blessed and humbled to be a part of a group who looks each other in the eyes and says, "yes I have a problem, and I need you all to get me through it." I, too, am proud of the guys who threw their cigarettes away last night (HUGE step). To see a prayer that has been brought before the Lord come to fruition after months of sitting before Him with the request is so amazing. Please, everyone, pray for all of us. The guys may have given something up that we can all see, but all of us have a thorn that needs to be prayed about, and is a big to us as the cigarettes are to them. Lord, I come before you with petitions for my whole small group. Our Spirit is willing, but our flesh is weak. I pray that in the times of biggest tempation to go backwards and fall into our old ways, that we all remember that we can do ALL THINGS through You who gives us strength. Let us glorify You through this "fast" and let us come through this closer as friends, and, more importantly, closer to you, our King, our Redeemer, our Strength. Amen and Amen. |

I am also extremely blessed to be a part of this group and as the newest member I just want to say that it is amazing to see GOD move in such a huge way.
Lord thank you so much for allowing me to have these wonderful people as a part of my life and encouragement for my walk with You Father. I pray that we can give you all the glory through this fast and that You bless these obedient followers. We just love You so much Father!! In JESUS mighty name! Amen!! |

| That is awesome. I am glad to hear that they both quit. I will definitely be praying for them, and encouraging them when I see them next at church |
