Eight of the greatest words in all of scripture! (Great of you to point em out to us!)

"not as I will, but as thou wilt"

Mike, I imagine even people with limited knowledge of scripture have heard these words.  They are so simple, and seemingly take all the pressure off of us.  We just have to let God have control.

jairah20, Amen.

I think you might also be saying, be careful what you wish for!  I know I've wished for things I wish I'd never had to really deal with after the fact!

Also,
your statement, "praying directly to our Lord Jesus, asking for guidance and help. We can’t do it all on our own" is very true!!!

Yahschild, yep, be careful what you wish for!  This has happened to me too.

Yesterday I found out that an acquaintance of mine committed suicide.  I didn't know he was going through a crisis.  We all seem to have a crisis or two in our lives and some can cope better than others.  But a very dangerous crisis is one that is on-going...like depression or guilt or low self esteem.  This kind of crisis is harder to diagnose by the individual involved and by others.  And it's usually more fatal than a crisis of indecision or an event.  My point is that God needs to be more than a lifeline, he needs to be a mainstay in one's life.  Perhaps if he was a mainstay, we would be more able to overcome the darts and arrows that this world surely throws at us.

Thanks Deb, good observations and good suggestions!!

Ed, first of all, let me say I am sorry to hear about your acquaintance that committed suicide.  I have thought of suicide in the past, so I can understand a little about what leads a person to do it.  And you are right, an ongoing crisis, such as you mentioned, is harder to see, especially if a person has closed inside of themselves, which depressed people do.  God does need to be more than someone we call out to when we need help.  He needs to be the basis of our existence.  The day to day small crises, can be handled by keeping God there in life, but it is the harder more serious crises that we need all of His strength poured into us in order to get through.

Pastor Tim, we all need reminding of that from time to time, don't we?  At least I know I do!

If we insist on having it our way, getting what we want, God will go into battle against us. He will drive us to our knees,

WOW i am so grateful for the posts i read on here as it helps me so much to see
I want my oldest son to do what i want him to do and to see how he is messings up his life, but it isnt my will, it is God's. DC, thank you!

ds13099, I don't have any children, so I can't offer any sage advice.  I do know that all you can do is guide them the way you think is best for them.  They make their own choices though.  Aftere you have done your best, you have to leave it in God's hands, and pray that He will lead them to the light.

IF YOU PRAY TO GOD HE WILL WORK THE CHILDREN OUT FOR YOU WE HAVE NOT BECAUSE WE ASK NOT BUT IF YOU ASK IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS YOU SHALL RECEIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT DON'T PRAY AND WORRY JUST LEAVE IT IN THE HANDS OF THE LORD BECAUSE GODS HANDS ARE WAY TO BIG FOR YOUR LITTLE FLESHLY HANDS TO BE IN HIS WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET GOD BE GOD AND AS A PREACHER GOD WILL SPEAK TO YOU

dezzy, as soon as we leave it with God, we should not worry about it anymore...but oftentimes, I find myself taking it back from God and trying to worry it to death.

Lara, I am glad that God is so patient with us, and loves us so much!

prstn496, I can relate to your being intimidated to pray...yep, I have been there.  I think my bigger problem is praying with others.  I get tongue tied and intimidated by that.  Praying to God though, I feel like I am talking to my friend.  I do it so much now, that I don't think about it being difficult.  It used to be, but not anymore.  But when I am around others, and have to pray in a group, then I get nervous.  What we should concentrate on is talking to God, as our friend, but with reverence...you need to go read my blog called Have We Made Jesus into our Jesus?  The link is in the blue box at the top of the comments on this page.  Thanks for your comments!
