| To blog or not to blog --- that is the question |
|
| |
I read a blog. Something "clicks". I respond. Sometimes what I write in response to someone else's blog is commented on suggesting it be made a blog on its' own. But I feel the response belongs in the place it was "born".
Earlier today I commented on someone's blog using the same scripture they used. I've done that before but this time I had mixed feelings and thought seriously of making it a blog on its' own. Eventually, I resolved within myself that it is better to respond to someone than to take the seed they have sown and "transplant it to my field".
I see blogging as a community effort. Blogging is me (or you) writing what GOD has shown. And then you (or me) respond by what GOD has shown you. Ideally, the original post expands as it grows as we each interact sharing. I live far below the ideal.
I guess I am kind of curious if other people share the dilema of blog or not blog something they begin as a response.
And I wonder how personal people take it when they respond to someone and they do not even acknowledge (in this I am the chief of sinners, as Paul put it).
And just so everyone knows. I read responses. I appreciate them. I read blogs. I appreciate as others share. Whenever I manage to get a few hours here the time is spent reading, learning (about GOD, about others), feeling, praying, crying (sowing with tears). Sometimes I am light-hearted. Sometimes my heart is heavy. I care deeply. I just don't say it. I admire those with that gift.
.....peace..... |

| hey, nice to hear from ya~glad you blogged! LOL!! I have felt the same as you described and I do not think it would be okay to 'copy' a blog. If God lays something on your heart that is similar we all have a First Amendment Right, but I think ppl know the difference between that and a 'thou shalt not steal' entry. I have seen similar blog themes which is a work from God and enjoyed them all, but you can tell when it is a theme vs. not your unique idea. Is that the same as blogging plagiarism??? LOL!!! |

| Blogging is a whole new world to me but I'm trying. I feel I am a better speaker than writer. In response to your question for the most part I agree with what you said but, I feel that if the Lord lays on your heart a message no matter if a similar one has been posted or not.... you better blog!! I too love to read the comments. I have learned and been challenged (in a good way) from both. I feel you should respond if at all possible to comments on your blog. It;s just being nice and shows you appreciate the read. Also, as we all know there are times when a message and/or blog could be misunderstood so it's a good way to correct any misunderstandings. |

| Apureheart, as Cheryl said, I definitely would not duplicate someone else's blog, claiming it as my own. However, if I feel I have a lot to say, and especially if my point of view is very different from the blogger (and might offend or overpower the original blog(ger), I might write my own. If the two blogs are complementary, I would mention the first one and add a link to it. |

I would not have the same title or subject but would simply start my own conversation about the situation. I made a comment to a friend of mines blog about complaining and wouldnt you know it God Supernaturally gave us all a sermon about Complaining shortly after. And an assignment to do every time you complain.
Check it out yourself!
Then I have used the Blogging resource to through a new way of looking at thing out there about dating. This subject is dear and near to my heart because I see the way our culture is and it saddens me that People do not realize the enormous potential growth that can happen with the gift of singleness.

This is where I minister in the Body. We ALL fall short and need God to explain things to us. If we all can pull together information and store them in our ROLODEX (minds) then God is free to pull it out if and when he needs to correct, reproof, rebuke or encourage us in our daily lives.

Gordon, I would say if what God has given you, even if "triggered" by another blog, possibly even as a comment to that blog, diverges enough from the original blogger's message, it may benefit the community more as a blog unto itself, where more people would possibly be even more likely to see it. And of course, as Kathy said, the courteous thing to do would be post a link to the blog that inspired it. |

| I would like to encourage you to keep on writing and expressing what the Holy Spirit puts on your heart. There is nothing new under the sun as Solomen put it. We all gather from the same source, the Scriptures and the revelation that the Holy Spirit gives us. The whole reason for blogging is not to be selfish, but to share. If any writer would be offended that you were inspired or provoked by something he wrote, then that writer has missed the reason for writiing. If someone was to write or copy or use any of my ideas I would consider that a high compliment. If any writer would think himself to hold something so special and dear that it couldn't be shared, then he/she should have it copyrighted. I want to stir up the gift that is within you and express yourself for the glory of God and the mutual edification of the body of Christ. I would definitely say "To Blog" that is the answer to the question. |

Gordon... we are of One Spirit... and we learn through repetition... and the Spirit of the Lord builds on His truth... increasing the light we were in only moments before, however, through whomever, whenever He chooses, is what I have observed. Getting HIS message out is what really matters... and if one has something to add to it to confirm it, or build on it... that to me is a blessing!
Often what I read brings to rememberance something He has spoken to me previously... and I am not always sure if it is appropriate to expound on it as a comment... or post their link and expound on it at my own site... I hesitate... because I do not want to take away from the one who initially was inspired... but only add by way of encouragement and enlightenment if that be the case... and would hope others do the same! I encourage all to blog blog blog and put their links and cut and past their blog at my blog created for and from the body... and seekers... because where one topic may not draw one, a similar message under another topic may jump out at them and the point is to get HIS message out there... and make it as easy to find as possible. (The important thing is to get the message out... the vessel it comes through does not matter... except to those who seek a following perhaps???)
Lord willing, we are not in competition here.. but as a family... as the body of Christ, all desire HIS truths to be spoken and confirmed or built upon ... one plants, another waters, another weeds, another mulches, another harvests... another prepares the harvest.. another serves the harvest... another eats what is served... and the like is how I experience such. bren

You said: Earlier today I commented on someone's blog using the same scripture they used. I've done that before but this time I had mixed feelings and thought seriously of making it a blog on its' own. Eventually, I resolved within myself that it is better to respond to someone than to take the seed they have sown and "transplant it to my field".
May I suggest ... we come to Him to harvest the seeds HE wants sown... and it matters not where we sow it when we are inspired... just as long as it gets sown... hopefully it is being sown into the life of the one who reads the blog... ours or anothers. To sow such a seed offered from another honors HIM in them both is what I have observed.
You said: And I wonder how personal people take it when they respond to someone and they do not even acknowledge (in this I am the chief of sinners, as Paul put it).
I try to acknowledge all who make comments at my blog... am not always timely... as my life off line is full too. I also spend alot of time reading and comment elsewhere... sometimes I only read... or only star and this takes time away from my own blog and personal website, which makes my responses at my blog later than I wanted them to be... but I must follow HIS leading and recognize they want to be read as much as I do... and seek to honor HIM in them too. I mean no offense in delaying. When I write and do not receive comments at my blogs... I go through a mixture of emotions... then I think about my own lifestyle and rest in what is in the moment. I understand some are shy or busy and may read and never make a comment. I also recognize there is much to read... and some never will find my blog due to there being so many, unless HE leads them there. Since it's not about my blog... but HIM... I let go of any negative feelings quickly.
When someone does not agree... I go through a mixture of emotions... but I desire we all be honest one with another and like to read open discussions at my site or elsewhere. I believe the Lord will reveal the truth of the matter when there are opposing insights in due season and each walks in a different degree of light and contrast is important for growth. Sometimes I have been led to be silent in such cases and since obedience is what is on the table for me just now, I must obey and not justify my stand or stand with another, but allow what HE wills to come to pass through others instead of me. So the reason for my silence varies... bren

| My Dear Brother Gordon....We are all here on MyChurch to grow and learn from one another. It is the Spirit of the Living God that works in and through all of us. Don't you know, we all could read the same blog, and pull something completely different from it. The Spirit of God is here to reveal *truth*....Certainly we are all not on the same level Spiritually, and God because He is a Loving Father...He meets us where we are, and reveals to us individually what He wants us to know at that particular time. Let the Lord continue to use you here my friend. You have so much to offer to the Body of Christ. We are not here to compete...but to grow together. No one should get offended if you use something that they may have said, and blogged off of it....Just as there are 66 books in the Bible...the writers didn't get offended because someone else said the same thing in another book a little differently than how they said it.....or expounded more on what they said....It all was inspired by the Holy Spirit.....as should all the blogs here be inspired by the Holy Spirit. I purposely try to comment on every blog that I see posted, but of course time will not permit me to do so. I certainly don't get offended when others don't respond or comment to my blogs, because I ain't looking for no vain glory (smile)....I simply share what God has placed upon *my heart* for the Body of Christ here. If you ever want to blog off of my blogs.....Well you go on with your bad self.....I feast upon *every* word that God places in your mouth for the Body of Christ.....and I can assure you my friend....your seeds are falling on *good ground*. |

AMEN SISTER MAR JAY..... my heart exactly!
Seeing... one body, one spirit... coming together here .... Thank You Lord for drawing us together.... for the reality of Koinonia... to experience the reality of Ekkessia, for the feast You have prepared for us... as we sup with YOU and one another in the Presence of our Father... in Your Kingdom, having been reconciled through unconditional love. Thank You for ears to hear... and good soil, for seeds to plant! For Harvesters in due season. For Spiritual food.... May we each tithe our spiritual portion with joy and receive, praising You. Bless You for true communion of the saints! We acknowledge You in our Presence...and give witness to Your Spirit in one another! Thank You for the gift of truth and obedience... for giving us a pure heart... Bless for making us pure in heart so we can see You together!
1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, [see that ye] love one another with a pure heart fervently:
5:8 Blessed [are] the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Gordon, Keep blogging. Keep commenting. Keep questioning.
I have always appreciated your comments as well as your blogs. You have great insights that should be shared. Please continue to do so.
Blogging IS a community effort. We are trying to express attitudes and images of faith in our daily walk and greater purpose in the world. There is so much room for comment on all that and I for one would consider it a loss not to have your thoughts expressed - even if it is the same scripture that;s in the original blog.
Sometimes my comment is a single word. Sometimes it's more (OK, no laughing now. . . ). Speak what the Lord would have you say. We're listening. |

OK Gordon, Most of what I would say has already been said here, but just have to add my 2cents. I think when God is speaking to your heart and you feel the urge to share along the same line as another, you should speak up, or type up, just be sure to identify the original sower of the idea came from. Good thoughts and thanks for bringing the subject up. Blog away! peace |
