| The Power of Understanding |

On Feb. 10th our pastor taught about the power of understanding. I wanted to share a few words and thoughts I had on this wonderful message.
Knowledge vs. Understanding
Knowledge: the fact or state of knowing; the perception of fact or truth; clear and certain mental apprehension. Understanding: superior power of discernment; enlightened intelligence.
You see, we can know something and yet not truly understand it. Jesus came to be our interpreter and give us understanding. We may know the difference between right and wrong, but because of his coming we understand the difference. Before his coming we were bound to the law; our only way of restitution, through sacrifice. The law has the power to condemn, but no power to save. That power is our God's alone. It is only by receiving his understanding that we can be redeemed.
Scripture teaches that the wages of sin is death. (Rom. 6:23) And, our God is a just God who will not be mocked. He is not a man that he should lie. (Num. 23:19) So, if the wages of sin is death then that is the price that must be paid. How is it then that we are not all on our way to eternal damnation? Because, We have been pardoned! All we've to do is accept Jesus' gift of salvation. He paid the price. He died for you and me and through his death we find redemption.
By the New Testament plan of salvation we can be better than we were before. We no longer have to go to an external advocate to plead our case before our God. We don't have to spend long hours giving penance. Our advocate is now indwelling. We have but to call on his name, Jesus, and ask his forgiveness and it is done! He has restored us and renewed us.
To understand his plan for us is truly powerful! The sacrifices we make now we make because we love him, not to escape a death sentence. Sacrifice is not easy. It can even be painful, but when you really love, you are willing to sacrifice your all. Our God understands us and he wants our love. That's why he redeemed us.
"In Christ we are delivered from the law which condemned us for our sins but made no provision for pardon and gave no power to obey it." (Thank you pastor John)
Embrace the redemption our God made so available to you. Let him become the lover of your soul. |
