Wow! Two Weddings. (A Legal & A Semi-Church Wedding) Germans have an Interesting way to get married. We first went to a City Hall and my Foreign Exchange Brother "Erol Isim" got legally married to his bride "Astrid". A round of Champaigne at a Bar in the same building. And later around 7pm Eat at a super fancy EXPENSIVE restraunt that requires formal attire. My mother & I thought we were judges on German Iron Chef.. Multiple courses of small portions of incredible food presented by multiple award winning chefs. We were there till Midnight!! A Five Hour Meal....... I snagged a menu & biz card to look it all up when I get home... The next afternoon after getting up & enjoying my breakfast (Cold smoked Salmon on white toast with butter) we do it AGAIN.... This time it's at a church, with a friend of the Bride who'se a Pastor from New York, and more Champaign, and later another Multi Course Formal Dinner... I've had some of the best food Germany´s fanciest Chefs can make. The next morning we check out, and travel to Hamburg, and a place called Wildnis. I got to see the Baltic Sea. Tasted the water. Just as salty as the Pacific. This evening I ate a plate of fish that this place is famous for, with cranberry, Mustard, and a weak tarter sauces.. I'm trying to be bold in my food choices, try new things... My current favorites are Currywurst (Some sausage covered in Curry seasoned Ketchup.) And American Salad Dressing. (Thousand Island, but more creamier..) I found out that Heinz makes Curry flavored Ketchup (One of 57 varieties?) And American Dressing is Available in a can.. I've snagged the Ketchup to take home, and working on finding the dressing.. I've seen a couple of Beautiful Castles & a BIG Church, and gonna bring home tons of Pics. (I had to purchase a second 2 gig memory card for my camera cause I filled up the first one.) My Mother & I are already ready to head home, but we have a few more days here, then a train ride back to Berlin, one more night at our Hotel, and a quick plane to Frankfurt, and finally the long trip to LAX.. And a car ride back HOME... Hugs & Kisses to my Church Family.. James |
