Yes... but just as in my youth (I'm still young! lol) I do so when the spirit moves and I sit and do it from start to finish. If I do not stop and write it down immediately, it will slip away. I can't even think through what I am to say until I have a pen in my hand or I will loose it. I have to "hold it in" until I can get to a paper and pen (old fashioned... still go to paper before keyboard in these situations) and then it comes out, all at once, and I write fast and furious until I am done... no stopping to think about it... and as a practice I used to force myself to turn the page and not re-read it until at least the next day. what a process, huh? well, here I am with 4 kids and wouldn't you know most of the poems "slip away" but also the beauty of the poetry in my spirit now is it comes out as a prayer, as a song of worship in the moment, as a learning rhyme for my children, or just a special song I make up for them on the spot. LONG answer, huh? SO yes, MiknLaura, I do still write poetry, but sometimes it just doesn't get typed out :) |
