| I Love My Wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| |
I was sitting here in my office reflecting on the many blessings that God has bestowed on me. He has been exceedingly good to me, and I consider myself blessed and fortunate. I have a nice house, two cars that run (PTL), a job that I love, and a great family. However, what I am particularly grateful for is my wife and partner in ministry. She definitely completes me. Where I am weak she is strong, and vice versa.
I was told by my pastor many years ago that since I was going to be in the ministry, who I marry, would either enhance or hamper my ministry. After nearly fifteen years, I can say that she has not only enhanced my ministry but made me a more effective minister of the Gospel as well. So I just wanted to state publicly that I love my wife and very thankful for her. Usually I don’t get this mushy.
While this is certainly one way to say I love, I wanted to include other inexpensive ways to tell the love of your life just how much you care.
1. Make a homemade card with a picture of the two of you on the cover. Get ideas for a verse by spending a few minutes browsing through a card shop.
2. Write a poem. It doesn't have to rhyme.
3. Send a love letter listing the reasons "Why I love you so much."
4. Pledge your love for a lifetime. Write it on calligraphy or design it on a desktop computer and print it out on parchment paper and have it framed.
5. Plan a surprise lunch, complete with picnic basket, sparkling grape juice and goblets.
6. Bake a giant cookie and write "I love you" with heart shaped redhots or frosting. (Don't worry about the calories, it's not for eating!)
7. Make a coupon book and include coupons for a back rub, a compromise when about to lose an argument, a listening ear when needed, and doing the dishes when the other cooks.
8. Kidnap the car for a thorough washing and detailing.
9. Design your personal crest combining symbols that are meaningful to both of you.
10. Compose a love song.
11. Arrange for someone to sing a favorite love song to you and your love when you're together.
12. Call a radio station and have them announce a love message from you and make sure your love is listening at the right time.
13. Make a big sign such as: "I Love You, Kristi. Love, Joe" and put it in front of your house or her apartment complex for the world to see.
14. Buy favorite fruits that aren't in season, like a basket of strawberries or blueberries.
15. Hide little love notes in the car, a coat pocket, or desk.
16. Place a love message in the "personal" section of the classified ads in your local paper.
17. Florist flowers aren't the only way to say "I love you." Pluck a single flower and write a message about how its beauty reminds you of your love. For greater impact, have it delivered at work.
18. Prepare a surprise candle light gourmet low-calorie dinner for two.
19. Write the story of the growth of your relationship from your perspective, sharing your emotions and your joys. What a treasure!
20. Make a paperweight from a smooth stone, paint it, and write a special love message on it.
21. Promise to change a habit that your love has been wanting you to change.
Family Matters. |

| Hi, Pastor Tim--I noticed that many things on that list included the written or spoken word. Women do treasure words of love from their men. I treasure the words of my Beloved when He says (to me and you) "I have loved you with an everlasting love." God bless. |
This is great advice! and I am so happy to see Men in ministry show love for the wife, this has also given me a more appreciation for my wife who stand by me all the way. Thank you! |
| TIM YOU OLD SOFTY, YOU SOUND JUST LIKE ME, MICHELLE AND I HAVE BEEN MARRIED 34YRS AND SHE IS MY RIGHT HAND....FOOT.....EYE....WELL YOU GET IT DON'T YOU? LOVE STU |
Suzanne - Great word. "I have loved you with an everlasting love." I love that verse. It is precisely this kind of love, which is agape love, that we are to show in our marriage.
Keith, I think it is important, and I know that you would agree, that ministers should set the example.
I always tell people that I have been married to my wife for 15 years and I have been dating her for 16!
Stuart, you forgot toes and fingers.lol I cal tell that you are a blessed man too. |
Me too !!! MY wife that is ... I dont love your wife ,... well I do but with the love of The Lord ....
Oh for crying out loud ,... I LOVE MY WIFE!!! |

Pastor Tim,
What a beautiful thing to say in public! I only wish more people would profess their love for their spouse in public, because I believe our young people need to see and learn what real love is about and not get their ideas about love from tv.
Thanks for sharing those tips... I'm gonna use some of them right away for Pastor Ken, as most of you all here know.... is the love of my life.
I know Michele feels all warm and fuzzy on the inside and outside... to know her man loves her so much that he can publicly say..... I Love My Wife!

| I hope that not only do many men read your blog, but many women do as well. Every marriage has two partners that need to profess their love for one another. Your ideas/suggestions were great and would work either way. I profess that I love my husband! |
King - You are toooo funny bro!
Pastor Aminata - Tell Ken I expect 3-4 of those to be applied by Sunday lol You guys are awesome and a tremndous example of a Christian marriage :-)
Realitor Randy - I too feel awkward about getting mushy. lol
Dave - I will be praying that God would send you the right one.
DeeDee - Thanks for the kind words. I think when we make an effort to show our husband/wife love, it will only stregnthen our marriage. Nothing says it more than the three words, "I love you." |
| These are some great ideas! But, what I like the best is that you are proud of your wife and are grateful for her. He that findeth a wife findeth a good thing. Sounds to me like you have a good thing going. God Bless you both! |
Ok, Tim --- I am expecting to see some of those examples put into practice!! (Can I get a witness, ladies?) You are the greatest husband! You make me laugh, you treat me special, I love you!!!!! P.S. for the record, I got personal, hand delivered (by Tim) roses on Valentine's Day to my classroom door. The teenagers were quite impressed! |
| I was saying that King of Cheese's response was awkward. ;) |
Brother Todd - I definitely have a god thing going and I know you do too. We are two lucky men.
Michelle - I'm blushing lol
Randy - Sorry about that. I thought you were like me. The mushy stuff still makes me feel a little awkward lol |

| Excellent advice! |
| Ya big sap! lol This is really wonderful! And you are correct: there are spouses that have done the opposite in marriages, unfortunately. Solomon knew the value of a good wife (He had to have had at least one of the many). You did well, because you chose one and hit the jackpot! I am sure she feels the same. :D |
| I did indeed hit the jackpot! |
| And I feel the same!! God bless all the marriages on MyChurch. |
| I pray i'm learning to be in love with Jesus men were a problem for me. If I thought I really loved them thy would die or be killed. When I knew i lusted them I could not be free of them. |
| Good idears Pastor Tim. Definately gonna have to try some of these. The dukes of hazzard DVD just didnt get the reaction i thought it would. |
| Duke of Hazzard! I remember watching them on TV when I was a kid. It was my favorite show. As a matter of fact, my whole family would gather together and watch it. It was porkrinds, pop, and Bo and Luke Duke lol |
| This was such a wonderful read Pastor Tim~ I think I will make a copy of it and pass it along to my hubby. He being a Pastor himself, he does a lot of premarital counseling and well...post marital counseling too...these tips would be good for him to pass along. (wouldn't hurt for him to have around his office to look at either...LOL) |
Thanks Valarie. I think all of us husbands need to take a look at this list from time to time. My wife points out to me the ones she likes. lol |
