I'm in, I am a certificated instructor of Active Parenting Now parenting classes and unfortunately as a single parent, I cannot afford the materials needed (instructor kit-video, instructor's manual & overhead sheets) and the workbooks that the parents get, but I would be willing to donate my time to teaching the course to the parents (not just single parents, but any parent who needs guidance in a non-violent, non-threatening, non-contact way to discipline their children).  This course is based not on punishment, but rather on a discipline that fits the behavior.  I have fun with these classes and if we could fund raise the money for the materials (I would need to check into the cost), then I can definitely donate my time.  The classes helped me and I liked them so much, I learned how to teach other parents.  Keep me posted.  This would be a great benefit to a single parent ministry!!  I would love a single parent ministry and if I can help get it off the ground, sign me up!!

God Bless!

Deebee,,
yes I definitely agree. I was thinking this could be somewhat like other single parent groups such as PWP with picnics with the kids, dances for the parents and field trips but with more emphasis on serving Jesus rather than hooking up. We could do bible studies and reach out to other struggling single parent families outside the church. If this can't happen in the church anyone who would like to form a group on our own please message me

I just got called off my shift an hour before I was suppose to be there this morning, why, punishment 4 not being able to come in and and cover someone elses shift.Y? last minute childcare problem. This is what I'm talking about single parenting! and think of all the teenage mothers and fathers that will be eaten alive by this world if not introduced to christ! I really think this would be a great ministry

I have emailed Pastors Ron, Jim & Tom our idea for a single's ministry and parenting classes, if someone knows another way we can get this ball rolling, suggestions are welcome.  This is a huge idea that can really go places and could benefit not only our church community, but the Bakersfield community as well.  If any of our pastors are listening out there and can help get our ministry off the ground, please throw us some rope.....

God Bless!!

I find this sooo interesting that we are looking at new avenues to help "Singles" at VBF. I was talking to Cozy the other day about how my adult single daughter, with no children would love to see a singles group for single adults who no children. She is a third grade teacher, loves kids, but when she has a chance, loves to communicate with Christian adults. What does anyone think about another avenue of a singles minstry that  supports a lot of single Valley Bible Heads that want fellowship and fun times with no kids involved? I think the Single Parent Ministry is a wonderful idea...but what about singles that have no kids and still need togetherness?

Hi Kacey, I see the spirit of God is moving in this. I am part of the single's ministry and part of the leadership team. God has placed it in my heart to start a Bible study for single parents. This will not only be a Bible study; this will also be a support group and outreach. I will also coordinate family events one Saturday a month, some will be fun outings and others will be outreach. I believe God wants us to serve as a family and have fun with our children. Interaction and being a strong positive role model is the Key. I invite you and all single parents to be part of this amazing Bible study. It starts April 4th. It will be every Friday at 7:00 pm in my home. I have also invited a single dad to co-teach this study with me. I thank God for the direction He is providing me with; He has had me read several Christian single parent books and has provided me with a lot of wisdom during my own trials.  Just remember, He will never leave you, nor forsake you.

Bless you and praise God. I've been wanting to find this and praying for it even before I was a Christian This is definatly God's answer to my biggest prayer, and you know what? April 4th is my birthday! I think I am going to cry. It might sound silly but this, for me, is one of those spiritual moments that brings your faith to another level. No matter how much I think I couldn't love God anymore he keeps finding ways to blow me away.

Good for you sister.............for taking the initiative. And honey I know exactaly how you feel with the whole wanting to cry spiritual moment thing. I recently experienced one myself when God opend a door for me as an answer to a  prayer. Not only did he open the door he gave me exactaly what I was prayin for down to the specifics. I started to cry a little and the thought crossed my mind "WOW God must be pleased with me to be blessing me with this right now!" I know it sounds corny, but the blessing, to me, felt like God giving me a pat on the back in a sense. Well keep up the ministry!

I am also a single mom of a 13 month old and would absolutely love this type of ministry but I would want to be able to bring my son with me to events if possible.  I just joined a Women's in Action Mommy and Me group for the same reason.  Please let me know if you get something going.

Hello,
I do not belong to your church, however, i believe that the group is a good idea.  I have subscribed to several christian single parents devotions online.  I go to meetings out in my community becuase it is hard and I do so to keep myself sane.  Praying will do but so much, I need support.

My name is Stephanie and I am a teacher in Florence.  I am trying to start a Single Parent Support Group that meets at a central location for people in the Florence area.  I would love to have it at my church but I'd also like to reach single parents that are not in church, too.  It would not be a single parents dating group, but rather a group we form to support each other emotionally.  We'd focus on the trails and tribulations of being a single parent, as well as enjoy doing various activities together as families.  Are any of you interested in something like this?  We'd try to get something going to help our kids deal with being in a single parent family as well while we are meeting as adults.  I have researched events and activities that other single parent groups are doing and have gotten lots of ideas.  Contact me and tell me what you think.  My email address is sleigh1970@aol.com.  I just joined MyChurch so I don't know how this all works.  Feel free to help me.  :-)

Thanks,
Stephanie

Single Parent's Prayer
Lord, grant me time enough to do all the chores, join in the games, help with the lessons, say the night prayers, and still have a few moments left for me.
Lord, grant me energy enough to be bread baker and breadwinner, knee patcher and peacekeeper, ball player and bill juggler.
Lord, grant me hands to wipe away the tears, to reach out when I'm needed, to hug and to hold, to tickle and to touch.
Lord, grant me heart enough to share and care, to listen and to understand, and to make a loving home for my family.
