| Modern Day Moral Heroes |
| |
Anybody can go with the flow of immorality that has swept through our Western culture. It takes no courage, no commitment, no strength, to give in to your cravings and desires. But to go against the raging tide of decadence takes real courage--true heroism!
4:3 For this is the will of God, `even' your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication; Since 1993 more than 2.4 million teenagers and college students have signed this pledge:
"Believing that true love waits, I make a commitment to God, myself, my family, my friends, my future mate, and my future children to a lifetime of purity including sexual abstinence from this day until the day I enter a biblical marriage relationship."
Now, that takes courage, commitment, and character! But the media ignores these brave and strong young people and instead glamorizes and promotes the weak behaviors of unmarried sex, adultery, homosexuality, and all sorts of crudeness.
Well, I salute the real heroes of today! Keep up your fight to live right. True, it is a very difficult struggle, but you can win! So many people don't even resist their cravings, but blindly follow their baser instincts into all sorts of self-destruction. You, however, have not run away from the fight. I admire all 2.4 million signers of the True Love Waits Pledge.

Amen , I with you!! I also wish they start doing some news on the positive side to our youth and families. MAYBE then those who watch will be copycats!! like thos ehwo copycat the sin they see. Thanks for a most wonderful post!!! Praying |
| Good point ds. We all tend to copycat what we are exposed to. Therefore we need positive, godly messages and people to be exposed to. |

This is real food for thought. Our young people to day have more pier pressure than ever. I paray God will keep them strong. garry |
| Amen, bandmaster. The pressure to do wrong is very strong. Praise God there are courageous young people taking a stand for righteousness. |

| This is awesome, and I don't need to go into grissly details, but I will say that it pays to wait! My bff and her husband were both virgins when they wed and I know other couples, and there is less to work through. I am telling anyone reading this WAIT! You will have such a blessed marriage if you do! And less hang ups and baggage to work through. Sexual sin really is different from other sins. It really is. |
| Oh yeah, not everyone knows my story: I DID NOT wait, and even after you give your life to Christ, He still has to work through your hurts and heal them. Don't think it won't affect you. You still reap what you sow, Christian or not. |

| Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom, Lara. It will help someone! |

| Amen Brother! Here's a new way kids are adhereing to the world; I just read about it this morning. Many computer enthusiasts have a can of DUST OFF compressed air laying around the computer to blow dust off their computers. Good maintenance...bad idea if you have kids around looking for a way to feel high for a few seconds. It's not the air, it's the propellent that depletes oxygen from the brain and the heart. Kids get together and have fun saying that it's safe; it's only air! Not true, one 14 year old police officer's son died during the night, straw still in his mouth and can in his hand. Inappropriate sexual behavior is bad enough before God, but what about death defying drugs and the harm it causes? |

HIP, HIP, HORAY ! We should have a parade (at least) for these awesome people who have put God's ways FIRST PLACE in their lives !! My wife and I were once leaders of the adult singles group at our church. At one of the regional meetings, (many churches represented) , I suggested promoting "true love waits" in our organization. I was shocked at the LOOKS sent in my direction! so sad again, HIP, HIP, HORAY for those who put God first !!
| Ed: There is so much trying to pull kids and adults into sin and self-destruction. |
| Paul: How sad that churches don't want to stand against sin anymore. |
Steve, I think sometimes people would rebuke Jesus Himself for telling the woman taken in adultery to, "sin no more". As if that would bring condemnation on her by mentioning it (ceasing from sin). His purpose was that she would NOT be condemned. I admire people who have decided to do things God's way ! There are GREAT rewards! |
| Amen, Paul. It takes lots of courage to do things God's way and not our own. For one thing we may get persecuted. But if no one stands for righteousness, where will our society go? God is looking for courageous men and women to stand up for His way! I love the statement: real men (and women) love Jesus. |

thank you Steve, I have a daughter about to turn 16, and we recently had a discussion about purity, and how important, beautiful, and Christ-like it is. She said something to me, that just melted my heart.
"Mom, I know abstinence is uncommon at my age, but I was thinking that one day, God is going to bless me with a wonderful christian husband, and what better gift can I offer him on our wedding day that would be better than the purest love, and my whole heart..... never seen, and never touched before him. I know it seems corny mom, but I think God is giving me the opportunity to stay pure, and have a wonderful offering before Him, and my husband on my wedding day."
Wise beyond her years.... let me tell ya, this is not an easy thing to hear your child say while your driving down 95 and your eyes are becoming blurred with thankful tears. I praise God for the gift of Wisdom granted to many of the teenagers today. |

| Wow! That is powerful, Tammy. What your daughter said touched my heart. |

thank you Steve, I know what you mean, I was speechless, now... to train up my other two girls with that same frame of mind... Pray for me! |
| God will help you because that is also His heart, Tammy. |
