I would like the church to consider a new ministry for single parents. There is a small group of single parents from Valley here on mychurch but we don't actually meet. I think most of us would agree that this would be a very beneficial ministry to our members. In addition I think it would help draw new members to our church and new soldiers for our Lord. I love being a mother with all my heart but the single parent part is still hard! Trying to stay employed, keep reliable child care, help my children with they're homework, attend school functions, discipline them, teach them about Jesus and then throw in ugly child custody and support battles. Having other Christians going through the same struggles to relate to, pray with, teach each other, and even just have fun with would be such a blessing. I have lots of ideas for ways this ministry could benefit our church and our community but first I need some support. I went to the church office to ask how to go about this and they told me to email Pastor Ron and to have has many members as possible do the same. When he sees a need he does his best to fill it. If they're are any of you single parents out there who feel the way I do please email Pastor Ron or if you have any other ideas please share. God Bless! Kacey 6:2Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. |

| You know, I SO agree....we have all sorts of things geared towards marriages (of course) and even some geared toward singles...but I feel like, at least in my shoes, as most of my friends are married couples and I don't quite fit into the "singles"---there is really no place for me to feel truly comfortable. With my "married" friends, I'm kind of the third wheel; but I'm not a free-to-do-anything single, either! I'm in SC but wish this largely ignored population of our churches could be addressed, supported, and ultimately used for God's glory!!! |

We have a single parents group here on mychurch but the only moderator has moved to TX so there is not a whole lot of activity there.
But I agree with Dennis. You do not need to be ordained by a church if it is God's will to minister in that capacity....
Two Fish Ministries has never been backed by the church or any other church for that matter and it has flourished and kept serving and reaching people. It mattered less of who was with us than who was going to benefit from it (us and them and the Lord's name) it was a win win win situation and it was God's will that we were not backed by any church so that God could be free to move as he wished without any red tape!
But Dennis you sound offended. And the miraculous does not happen when you are offended. (BIG cleansing streams lesson for me) and offense hinders you big time! I used to be the queen of offense! All it does is build a wedge between what you are passionate about if that is your case or not I don't know. It may not be but we could all use a reminder about it (self totally included)
I think that if enough of you wrote to the church than the leadership would rise up and listen. It only took one person in the back of the sanctuary to be listening to earphones for 1st service to have quieter music. My sister wrote one email to Pastor Ron for a married young couples bible study because she should not attend married couples bible study and could not relate to the college kids cause she had different responsibilities and concerns as them. So I think you should all sincerely pray and write a letter or do what the Spirit says to.
The point is..... how bad do you want it? how strongly do you feel about it? Walls and obstacles are there not to keep you from doing something but to see how bad you want it and how much it is worth it for you! So set it up! Step out people!
Make sure that you are called to do it though because if it is of God then ain't no mountain high and no valley low enough to keep you from it. And as single parents some of us have extra duty that was meant for 2 to take on. But God is Good and His grace is sufficient but I know that I am no longer free to start anything new right now. I have work, school, ministry in and out of church and chores bible study and fellowship time. I would love to add another thing but then I would not get the rest I need. So, God be with you all
Any way thats just my very opinionated opinion -whatever you do prayerfully do so
