If you'll look on my music player, you'll find one song, entitled 'Oh, Happy Day." It was performed by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, and reached the number 2 position in April 1969. I'm listing the lyrics below, so that you can read them for yourselves: Oh happy day Oh happy day When Jesus washed Oh when He washed Mmm, when He washed All my sins away Oh happy day Oh happy day (Oh happy day) Oh happy day (Oh happy day) When Jesus washed (When Jesus washed) Oh when He washed (When Jesus washed) Mmm, when He washed (Mmm, when He washed) All my sins away (Oh happy day) He taught me how to watch Watch and pray Watch and pray (Watch and pray) And live rejoicing every day Every day (Every day) Oh happy day (Oh happy day) Oh happy day (Oh happy day) When Jesus washed (When Jesus washed) Oh when He washed (When Jesus washed) Mmm, when He washed (Mmm, when He washed) All my sins away (Oh happy day) It was a happy day (Oh happy day) I first heard it when I was in college in the late 1980's. I found it on a tape at my local music store, and nearly wore the thing out listening to that one track. Even though it was nearly twenty years old at the time, I think it told and even now still tells my story. It was a happy day when I knew for the first time that Jesus had indeed washed my sins away and gave me a life of rejoicing. I'll post more entries based on my playlist, and why they are special to me in the future. |
