4:2 preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
This morning I had to lecture at a college campus here in NY. I was invited by my dear friend who is also a member here on MyChurch, Professor Yaa. (Allow me to say, she has passed the rejection period for her new kidney, Praise God!). The topic was on sexual healing, and it's very intense and very graphic. I'm introduced as Dr. Aminata Njeri, CEO of Leadershipology, Inc. This is an hour long presentation. I don't mean to offend anyone, but when I say it's straight up talk, I mean straight up and real. We talk about sex, about our genitals in detail and the whys and wherefore of sexual activity, having multiple sex partners and the whole nine yards. This was my first time meeting them, and I know that in order for people to open up, they have to trust you and believe that you are sincere, that's why I let them know that I'm not here to judge them, but give them information that they might not know. Well by the time the class was over, several people said they were going to do things differently regarding their sexual activity. I'm keeping this as clean as I can. Many said they were going to go and be tested, and some ordered my video cd to share with their family and friends. At the end of the class, Professor Yaa told them that not only was I a national public speaker, and friend, but that I was also her Pastor. Now the class is over and people were leaving, even Yaa had to leave, but six of her students stayed behind. Two males, an African American and Latino and four females. They wanted to know more about "The Lord." You see, as usual I let Jesus slip out during my presentation, not obviously, but He showed up in there anyhow. We talked about an hour more. Two of them were ready to rededicate their lives to Christ… each of them promised to stay in touch.. I could see the hunger in their eyes, the thirst in their questions. I told each of them what I saw in them, (it's one of my spiritual gifts from the Lord) and each of them confirmed what I told them was true. They were in no rush to go, but I had to leave and they walked me to my car, each promising that I will hear from them real soon. As I was driving home, I was reminded of a scripture that said, we should be ready to preach in season and out of season. Although I was asked to speak on something totally different, the opportunity was there to share the Love of Christ, and someone went home today with a changed heart. Pastor Aminata |
