IDF soldier killed by roadside bomb near Kissufim An IDF soldier was killed and another was seriously wounded on Thursday when a large roadside explosion, possibly detonated by remote control, tore through their patrol jeep near the Kissufim crossing into Gaza. Several army vehicles and an IAF helicopter that came to the unit's rescue also came under fire in a coordinated attack claimed jointly by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Abu Ahmad, a spokesman for Islamic Jihad, said the attack was revenge for an Israeli strike a day earlier that killed one of the group's commanders in southern Gaza. "We are sending our message to all the Zionist criminals," he said. "We are going to continue our resistance and holy war, and we will continue to rain rockets on your colonies until we make them ghost towns." Meanwhile, Palestinian medical officials said an IAF attack on a rocket-launching site in northern Gaza killed a Palestinian militiaman, while several more Kassams and mortars were fired from Gaza at western Negev communities this morning.
