Toni!  It's great to see  you!  And what a powerful and convicting passage!

Hey Toni,

This makes me think of these comparison passages, "we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person (they will already know what to do and not to do - by the Spirit), but for the lawless and insubordinate (those who do not have the Spirit of God), for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers..." they Will need the law.

Now here is my problem. The verse says, "for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers..."

This is abortion. They murder future fathers and mothers. And yet the verse implies that those who have the Spirit of God, will know that this should not go on... nor should they allow it to go on, but do we?

If God is in us and He said, I want you to do what I did while I was here (in human form = Jesus). Then why aren't we?  Thanks for making me think.  R...

Life in the Spirit is kind of like living in a new home.

Life in the flesh is like living in an old broken down home.

In the Spirit we enjoy the best, in the flesh we "enjoy" the least.

The fruit of the flesh is a corruption of the fruit of the Spirit. Life in the Spirit looks better, smells better, tastes better than life in the flesh. At its' best the fruit of the flesh is like a plastic replica of the real thing. At its' worst it is spoiled and rotten.

Returning to sin has been compared to a dog returning to its vomit or a pig to its mire. Neither very pleasant images. Neither the image of what I once was. Sure, sin was fun...for a season. But the pleasures were always early on before the true cost became apparent. Sin, life in the flesh, demands its cost. And the cost is high.

Life in the Spirit is great...and only gets greater. Sure, there are times when it is not easy...for a season. But the cost of waiting patiently thru the tough times and things are rewarded by the gift of GOD's grace. When we receive from Him what we did not earn or deserve but what we needed we find hope and joy and a peace that passes understanding.

I ain't going back to the vomit or the pig pen. That part is dead, crucified with Christ, and the live I now live I live because of what He has done not me. It was received not achieved. I have no reason for self-glory, conceit, or to think I made this happen. When I make things happen it always looks more like the flesh than the Spirit.

The Spirit never demands its way. The flesh always does. The Spirit know the heart of GOD. The flesh knows the depravity of its own heart. One brings life the other death. One will fullfill the other will empty. One promises much the other delivers much. One can be trusted one cannot.

.....peace.....
