Thx woman of joy - God bless you!

Thx Cheryl!! I'm generally ok speaking in front of people, but when I don't know what I'm talking about???? This will be a new experience. But if I look like a fool in front of 200-300, it will be worth it if I look like an ally and a friend to my neighbor(s). Right?

Yea Mike,
It really is easy to just not get involved. But God does want us to get out there be heard. We are his vessels and his word is spread through our actions.

Hi, Mike n Laura--God does give us interesting ways to minister and be good neighbors.  One thing I would really like to stress to you is--watch out for gossip and backbiting here.  Not that YOU are going to do those things, but people will have strong opinions about this issue and their neighbors.  So be careful out there.   God bless.

Thx Jerry!! And thank you Suzanne - I hadn't thought of that...so prayers for that sort of thing are in order. Glad you're out there, sis!

suzanne,
Very sound advice!!! Mike sometimes when we get invloved in the lives of others we wish we hadn't for some of the things we hear. But its just God's way of telling us we all have flaws.

Came back to add~this may be more about your Christian walk/conduct than just a heering~How cool!  Look at all of the people you could influence by your peaceful spirit!~  Yep~put your armour on brother!~  These meetings have the potential to get heated and not nice!~  Thank you for standing up for what she needs!~

YUCK!  Zoning issues, neighborhood associations, etc.  I used to work in local government, and I'm glad I no longer do!  However, I admire you for stepping up, obeying the Holy Spirit, and being willing to get involved.  There may be another reason for you getting involved, and this is simply the doorway for it to be accomplished.  I will be praying for you!  Just keep us posted as to when your meetings are, so we can be sure to stop & pray for you.

Whew...it takes a heart of gold to step up to the plate and swing a new bat.  Kudos!  Win or Lose this will be a great learning experience.  Be encouraged God is on your side and will fill your mouth with just the right words...

John 14: 25-27"I'm telling you these things while I'm still living with you. The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I'm leaving you well and whole. That's my parting gift to you. Peace. I don't leave you the way you're used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft. So don't be upset. Don't be distraught.

Just don't view them naked...those images will never leave you...yeah, I am for the development of the rain forests even...shoot I would launch a community in the desert and call it a beachside community given the chance.

I was in NC for vacation and that was all they could talk about...hating those trying to develop.  Interesting that most of their revenues was tourism

Just kidding people...but don't imagine them naked seriously.  That doesn't work at all.  Have fun!

Thanks Jenily and Deb!!

Patrick, don't worry, I won't.

Kathy - I appreciate your encouragement more than you'll know! Paul, then a do-gooder I'll be! LOL Thanks brother for your sense of humor, for keeping it light around here.

Bernadette - I agree, yuck. How I wish I hadn't stepped up, in the sense of comfort and ease. Uhh. Another reason for my being involved? I'm sure of it!! Thank you for your prayers, I need them. I will post updates on this blog.

cella - wow, you show me once again that when we are led by the Spirit to share, He always has the audience in mind even when we haven't got a clue. Love ya sister! (And I'll be praying that your hubby gets elected, so the furnace issues will be resolved.)

Cheryl, regarding your second comment......"this may be more about your Christian walk/conduct than just a hearing"......wow, that may well be true! (In fact, see my response to Bernadette!) You know, situations and opportunities come up, and I believe we're called to step right out of ourselves (our wants, desires, needs, comfort, etc.) and into the ..... frying pan!! (Oh what have I gotten myself into??)

Thanks for your comment, prayers, and friendship!

Well, we are told to be in the world but not of it.  But we are told to be in the world!  And not to be isolated and sequestered in protected Christian fortresses.  I commend you, Mike for getting your feet out there in spite of your busy schedule.  Great witness.

Be out of pocket for a little while and your at the bottom of comments!! lol
Well Mike,  I haven't a clue what you will be speaking on since I didn't understand most of the first paragraph.  But,  that's okayYou said the most important part.... You heard God loud and clear.  I will pray that this will bring you and your neighbors closer together and everything is handled in a loving and kind manner.

Cheryl, I understand, a week ago it was all Greek to me as well. We've been praying for opportunities to be involved in the lives of our neighbors, and this is very much an answer to prayer. Admittedly, NOT the answer I was looking for, not the answer I wanted! But it is the opportunity we asked for, so I'll take it. God is good, he answers prayer. Pray for me in front of the zoning board!!!

BULLETIN: Yes, at the moment our next door neighbor's tree is laying across the ruins of our swing set. The strong winds today brought it down. How will we deal with this crisis as good neighbors? I've already told our neighbor that we will help clean up the tree. And that's all. I just hope they don't try to make us buy them a new tree!

ps... Yes, the kids are very sad.

I'm glad you're getting involved, but another verse comes to mind, about the blind leading the blind. Get thee informethed before thou testifieth. Blimey! That's bad English even for Elizabethan English.

David - I promise I'll run my "testimony" past someone in the know before Thurs. Thanks for your concern! A prayer or two would be welcomed too!

We only have 8 neighbors here, and we all get along fine. Of course that could be because we rarely see each other! our houses are spread apart. But we pray for them daily and even if they dont know it, we love them. I am praying that one day, every house here will be filled with a family of Christians. I have invited 3 of the homes out of the 8 to go to church, but they said no, for various reasons. Our other neighbor is a great christian family. I just hope that our daily living will be a testimony of how wonderful Jesus is.

Reading your post brought to mind that commercial song...Just like a goodneighbor Mikey is there.....Sorry your blogs inspire me to sing.....I wish i had good neighbors yesterday when we were shoveling out the drive way (Street the city is suppose to clean it but they don't now that i no longer work for the city) any way the neighbors were out side and they stood and watched us the older couple shoveling and they never offered to help however they use the same street and they use it just as much really more than we do they are going all the time....But oh well that is my good deed for this week.......Sorry about your kids swingset.

Hi Amy - I hope and pray you are able to establish relationships with your neighbors, what a great way to share the love God has shown you through Christ!

Rosie - wow, never been told my blogs inspire people to sing! lol But then, I can say I've heard you sing, and you could sing about anything and sound like an angel (w/that beautiful voice of yours). You are not blessed w/the most caring or helpful neighbors, I'm sorry! Well, there are a couple of properties for sale near us - ever thought of moving east? :-)

Hey Mike, sounds like you are really going the extra mile here with the neighbor thing.  Good work, keep it up.  By the way your insurance should cover the swingset thing if you want to file a claim.  We had a neighbor's tree crush our fence and shed and our insurance covered all the damage.  Actually it turned out to be a windfall for us because the insurance gave us money to have the property replaced by a contractor and we did the work ourselves saving the rest.

Anyway God bless you as you step out of the boat.  You can walk on water.

Thanks for the reminder Mike to reach out to my neighbors. This is something that God spoke to Michelle and me about just the other day. It is so important to reach our neighbors for Jesus Christ. Sometimes a simple invitation for dinner can provide an opportunity to share the Gospel.

Thanks Mike for a new perspective on that.  I've been struggling in this area as well my friend.  I'm always grateful when the spirit can make something clear.

Rosie, our family happens to love the snow! And if you lived nearby we would never stand around and watch you shovel your own walk....never!

Hey thanks, DK! I tell ya, it's kinda scary too. Our other Christian friend backed out of last night's meeting, she thought it would be too divisive - thankfully she was wrong! Now this Thursday is the first of the "big" meetings, before the zoning board. Don't know what to expect! But I stand in solidarity w/neighbors, a great way to go in. I really appreciate your comment, DK! (And prayers!)

Hey Mike,
I will pray for guidance as you approach the zoning board meeting on Thursday.  I imagine it might be a little overwhelming.  God bless you as you reach out to your neighbors.

Some days I don't feel good at all, other days I feel just fine, on either day I'm still alive and I still have my relationship with Christ. Our emotions can really get us in trouble at times. My Pastor tells us from time to time."Emotional Stability is a great asset for believers in Christ."
Awesome Post Mike N Lara you get my star.

Many Blessings,

Yes, please do take your stand against high density dwelling. A neighborhood near us used to belong to a farmer turned lawyer, one of the richest men in town. He turned his farm into high density housing. I mean these poor folks don't even have backyards and they think they are the ants pants because their homes are the latest, fully wired, whiz-bang electronic homes -- with no space. The lawyer trips off to club med and these poor folks are living in a 21st century slum to be. It's not right.
