I believe it's actually a two-fold approach.  The first is having your local church community as the central hub of your network.. connecting with fellow members and having relevant discussions around different elements of your church (sermons, events, photos, bulletins.. etc).  The second is finding and connecting with other Christians from churches all around the world and engaging in topical discussions (blogs).
