| As I glanced at the book my husband packed to bring on our trip to Hawaii with us, "Wild at Heart", I couldn't help but giggle as I knew I had brought the author's feminine counterpart, “Captivating." Just from the few glances I had made at my book I knew that it was going to be eye opening and truly insightful in its wisdom and ability to unlock the true beauty inside every woman. I haven't read Wild at Heart, but from the few sentences David had me read on the plane, I recognize that it is a book that can awaken the eye of the tiger inside every man. It seems only fitting in this island of many contrasts - where beautiful orchids, swaying palms, and graceful birds are pared with erupting volcanoes, powerful waterfalls, and tsunami sized waves, that we would be reading these two books. Just this morning we saw local men and women sharing their island traditions, and they seem to model the contrasts seen in the surrounding landscape. The men, macho and large, have a wild native look and yet a solid tenderness about them while the women are the picture of grace and beauty, with flowing long hair adorned with flowers and soft lei’s around their necks, and yet strength that emanates from with in. It is amazing that God in his infinite wisdom designed men and women to compliment and complete each other so well. With out the other, one would seem incomplete. Even God, with all the beauty created in Eden, recognized that man needed a counterpart… A Jane for every Tarzan, and just as we read in Genesis, it is not good for man to be alone. We are designed to go together… I am excited to see what God has in store for us this week, that we both were lead to bring these books and I am looking forward to the discussions that will come as we share the information we are gleaning about the power of man and the strength and beauty of woman. Now, I am about to hit the beach with my book. So for now, I must say, Aloha! Love, Amy |
