| What's arrogant? |

I was reading a book in Spanish “Palabras de William Booth” (William Both’ words); for those who don’t know, Mr. William Booth is the founder of The Salvation Army. I’m so interested in knowing this wonderful man. I truly believe I can learn excellent guidelines in how to do something big and durable since his idea has more than 100 years old and it is still growing up. Many people know The Salvation Army, as a brand; just few know its roots. William Booth said “Mi intención es hacer algo grande, no quiero ser de los comunes y corrientes” (My intention is doing something big, I don’t want to be an average person) WOW!!! It reminds me about my past post. William Booth had passion for souls and Let me say this…Almost everybody can build a ministry, not everybody builds an Army! Where do you need more faith?
William Booth was “Expecting the BIGGEST AND THE best” The Bible also says that we have to be like a child to enter into the kingdom of God. Well, I have a child, so I guess I can learn something form her. Vanessa always is EXPECTING THE BEST…ALL TIMES! Do you know why? Because every time she ask for something…She receive more of what she expected!
Many of you are related with my post A+ Student. In that particular post I shared Vanessa’s desire to be an “A student”, and I wrote how she worked, during the last two quarters, to make it possible.
3rd quarter’ report cards formally arrived and Vanessa finally made it!
As every morning we dropped Vanessa at school; Eli told “Jenily go with her and see the chart placed on the hallway”. Vanessa walked straight into that chart; I started looking for her name and I couldn’t find it, for few seconds I though “well, maybe something went wrong” When suddenly she screamed “Vanessa Silva!!!!”
I was looking under A and B’s student list and she was looking into the short list of just “A’s Honor Student”. We cried, praised God, gave thanksgiving and had a wonderful morning. Walking back to my car I thought “I have to expect more; I have to seek myself on the “just a list”. God can give me more of what I’m expecting. Friends, it easier to wait upon God for the “small things”; we know we can “control it”. Many people say that I’m an arrogant when I declare that “I born to do something big”. Because I confess “I’m not an average” I’ve learned something; when you think big, you require a huge amount of faith and you declare yourself 100% dependable on God to accomplish this task. You humble yourself because you know that without Him you can’t do it. You are more humble when you confess “I’m going to use my God given potential” “I’m going to be a walking testimony of what God can do” “I can do all thing in Christ...bring it on!” because clearly it’s not about “you” but Jesus. But when you prefer to stay in that comfort zone “I don’t know what God’s will” “Who knows what God wants” “One day at the time dear Jesus” “Why do I need more?.. few is ok! ” . You are depending on your own strengths, your own power, on what you can do...Now that’s arrogant!
I like when first Kings 17:2-4 says, “And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.”
One of the great lessons we can learn here is that God doesn’t reveal His complete plan immediately. He reveals His will to us one step at a time. After we obey the first step, He shows us the next.
Each of us has a place called “THERE,” where the blessings of the Lord are waiting. The Lord never fails to provide, but people often fail to receive because they aren’t all “THERE.” If Elijah had not gone to his place called “THERE,” his disobedience would not have stopped God’s faithfulness; however, he would not have received the provision; it was over “THERE,” by the Brook Cherith….. WOW!!!!!!!!
This is exactly what is happening to many of us. The Lord has placed something big and extraordinary on our hearts to say or do. But, if we haven’t obeyed, we aren’t in our place of “THERE.” We aren’t seeing God’s provision, because we aren’t in that place of obedience.
Sometime, we set ourselves with the few and small things thinking that it’s humility! Some of you are not seeing God’s provision because you aren’t doing what He has told you to do. This doesn’t mean the Lord is punishing you. If Elijah hadn’t gone “THERE,” he would have lost his provision. The Lord has provision for us too, but it’s “THERE.”
The Lord has never had anyone working for Him yet who was qualified. He uses us in spite of what we do, and not because of what we do. If we will hold on to our faith, we can still experience wonderful big things from the Lord even after failing BIG TIME. What powerful truths.
We can do more, expect bigger and dream daily!

| Jenily once again…POWERFUL! I don’t have the writing skill and I certainly enjoy yours. First, thank you for teaching me about this remarkable man, William Booth. I didn’t know he was so passionate about Christ. Neither that The Salvation Army was a church in its beginnings.Dragged by your article I google it and I found nice information about him; I copy and pasted this “I have no intention to depart in the smallest degree from the main principles on which I have acted in the past. My only hope for the permanent deliverance of mankind from misery, either in this world or the next, is the regeneration or remaking of the individual by the power of the Holy Ghost through Jesus Christ. William Booth In Darkest England and the Way Out was reprinted several times and lately in 2006.” Good stuff!You also encourage me today to think big. I needed it! |

| My husband is called to something big, and I know some of the stuff God has called me to do, ppl would cal me a "dreamer". And they are right! I am a dreamer...but who gave me those dreams? I am dreaming God's dreams and thoughts and plans for me. It's exciting! And not arrogant. so chase your God-given dreams.....OK, I just realize that last night I was thinking the same sort of message here! Conicidence? I think not! |

Tell Vanessa, I said "High Five" and I'm super proud of her...Oh and I'm proud of you too, because personally, being a mother and your friend, know what a struggle and sacrifice that is, Soo I share your joy. This also proves what Leslie said to me once "mommy Jesus is helping me through my test to do my best", so Jesus helped Vanessa all the way to success...Amen...Yeaaaah!!!

Wow! What a testimony of truth!
I heard a long time ago that the difference between conceit and confidence is the ability to perform. It isn't arrogance if it can be done. I think we place too many limitations on ourselves. you're absolutely right.

| i do not think you are correct in your thots on Booth. He was thrown out of the ministry and lost his pulpit. No one would give him a place to minister so he took the streets.The one you want to know is the one who gave him the streets. |
