| It's an acquired taste huh? |
|
| |
The other day while the Barbra shop , I was told by the Christian Barbra that the Type of preaching I preach is an “Acquired taste” he had heard me preach on a Disc I had given him from the radio station, At first I didn’t understand were he was coming from, and to be honest at the time “ my ego was a little crushed” After talking with him further and questioning him about what he meant , he began to tell me how Christians today were not used to hearing , nor receiving messages that “hit direct at the heart” he also stated that people (Christians) are used to getting excited with what was being preached, and than he said again “ that’s why your preaching is an acquired taste”!
As I left the shop feeling like giving up!, the word “authentic” came to mind.
The word of God to me is authentic, meaning that it is real, and has all the natural ingredients to furnish the mind, body and soul of man. Believing that the way I believe is pure, I must say “ many people have either tried the authentic and didn’t like it or they have substituted it for the secondary”, unfortunately when it comes to the word of God “ There is no secondary!”
Sometime we view God and his word the same way we view food and things.
How many of us have substituted “Butter for, “ I can’t believe it’s not butter?” How many of us have substituted “ Sugar for sweet in low, or Sugar substitute? How many of us have substituted “ salt , for Mrs. Dash? These mere substitutes are no match for the real thing, and even if you have become used to the taste ,these things all, still have an effect that can be detrimental to your very body, the same way substituting the word of God for something else does!, only this is far worse to the lifeline of your spiritual growth!
Psalms 34: 8 “ O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. The point I am trying to make is that some time the word of God is like “soul food”, seasoned so well that some can’t take it for it’s rich texture and taste”
So as I think back to the statement made to me “ It’s an acquired taste” I agree! People now and day are going back to organic food, which is also an acquired taste, and sometimes it takes awhile to get used to after eating so many unnatural foods,
And as I recall the Scriptures in Ezekiel 3:3 “ And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. Go back to organic , go back to the word of God!

Son OUTSTANDING
That is so right people (CHRISTIAN) most of them just want the same old some old they are truly not use to what you preach because the truth of it all cuts like a two edge sword and it hurts or they turn a death ear to it but you just keep on keeping on doing your Fathers business because your on a mission for God to spread the gospel and if it falls on death ears so be it, you have done what God has told you to do yes your preaching is of acquired taste remeber Jesus they didn't like His preaching either it also was acquired taste to the point Jesus had to leave and preach else where, Son your in good company. Your Mission is to please God by preaching the truth not man.

Keith, you are the guy God made. You preach what the Big Guy tells you to preach and stop listening to anyone but Him.
Understand me? You are good at what you do; sometimes people just don't want to HEAR it. They are critical because they are CLOSED MINDED to the TRUTH. |
|
|
Joey- thank you , and i will do just that! I just keep thinking of Ezekiel and how God told him to tell the people but they will not hear! But one thing i noticed is that he never told him not to go! I will keep on going no matter what! |

| Keith God Bless you, I love your blogs and would love to hear you preach! I will keep you in my prayers. You can preach on my blog anytime! God Bless,Bro. |

Bro/Evang. Keith's is words are not an acquired taste, but are words from a leader that will not take down from the truth. Truth has become a rare exposition of what should be preached, told and or expounded upon today. Why have we come to such a state of mind that we would rather take the easy way out and ending up finding the hard way into holiness or find yourself coasting into hell. Yeap, I said hell. Truth must not be watered, stretched, nor has it been set so high that it can't be understood. Truth can be understood by children. We must remove that which is in our mind which causes us to try hiding sin from the sword, and trying to hide your wrong just to think you're right and find yourself in contempt of order. Who's order? God's order!
Truth establishes order, even where deception is concealed! I love truth! Who's truth, my truth? No, God's truth! I am a apostle and I too find myself flawed at times, but the truth can reveal that which is concealed even from my ignorance that I may stand in the light and obtain insight of that which is hidden even in me, from me. Fore, I too am a child (of God) with many questions and I want the truth so that I can conform to truth and not my foolish logic. Truth can set me free and help me to stand, but logic only conceals my ignorance and cause me to stumble and perhaps even fall. Momma told me that sometimes I must take nasty medicine to get well and the worse it tasted the better it worked. Well siblings and seekers; the harder the word is or maybe, the stronger the word is, or even the stranger the word maybe or seem to be the better it will work at helping us to be delivered and setting us free from sin and branding us with salvation.
We trim ourselves short when we seek the simple and less challenging and end up deceived, destroyed, perplexed, or lost. Well, don't blame the preacher even if he is teaching flawed logic. It is your fault, just as it would be your fault to put unleaded into a vehicle that required diesel fuel. Just because it sits next to the diesel pump; we must still use discretion of which to nozzle to insert for fuel. Unleaded is also fuel, but it not the fuel required. Just as the sweet, soft, and gentle logical words from a flawed leader are, it is not what is needed to live up to the standard for which Jesus died that we might be free, then in addition to have life in abundance or full of power.
In Psalms 141:5 David teaches us to learn to accept rebuke, and acknowledge it as a kindness that is shall be for the good for our soul, and to help us to endure & withstand the harsh and direct enlightenment from leaders. David obtain unmerited mercy and wisdom from Jehovah and accepted the rebuke and correction of Nathan and the leaders. Why don't we?
1:13 This witness is true. So say sharp words to them so that they may come to the right faith, 1:14 Giving no attention to the fictions of the Jews and the rules of men who have no true knowledge. 1:15 To the clean in heart all things are clean: but to those who are unclean and without faith nothing is clean; they become unclean in mind and in thought. 1:16 They say that they have knowledge of God, while by their acts they are turning their backs on him; they are hated by all, hard-hearted, and judged to be without value for any good work.
I will tell you that my Bro Keith is not going to back down, neither will I ever, because the word says:
4:17 The man who has knowledge of how to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Our dear and blessed Bro Keith is simply revealing the mysteries of the word of the Lord, and to shun it or him will cause one to remain in a dark room, in a dark land, of a dark world.
3:20 See, I am waiting at the door and giving the sign; if my voice comes to any man's ears and he makes the door open, I will come in to him, and will take food with him and he with me. 3:21 To him who overcomes I will give a place with me on my high seat, even as I overcame, and am seated with my Father on his high seat. 3:22 He who has ears, let him give ear to what the Spirit says to the churches. 4:1 After these things I saw a door open in heaven, and the first voice came to my ears, like the sound of a horn, who is Jehovah saying, Come up here, and I will make clear to you the things which are to come. 4:2 Straight away I was in the Spirit: and I saw a high seat in heaven, and one was seated on it; Will we remain blind and in darkness or open our eyes and ears to the servant of the Lord and bare witness that which is told to us by the servant of the Father of how we are to prepare ourselves and be watchful of the deception and devices of the enemy. If you don't like that/truth then there are plenty of leaders that are headed to hell and are more than willing to make room for you aboard the hell bound train. They will even add an extra car just for you if you want to ride.
Be careful my beloved, the air conditioner works on-board the hell bouard train till you get to your destination. Listen and take heed. You will only be helped, enlightened, set free, and healed if you take these word and gard them in your heart; and constantly check yourself, often, to see if you are of God. Be and stay blessed!
Your Bro, friend, and fellow-servant, Apostle SM3

Oooh-wee! Hallelujah! As I was reading all of the posts, I suddenly found myself standing in front of my computer monitor clapping and praising! I feel as if I've just been to Church! Don't stop now; this is too good! Thanks to all, especially Evangelist Keith and Apostle SM3; MaKelly, I can picture in my spiritual imagination, that you may have been standing and praising at your computer as well. ;-)
All of the comments make perfect sense to me except the Barber's, who got this whole discussion rolling in the first place. Maybe I'm extra slow today? I'm curious as to what "type" of preaching he is accustomed to after his comments: "he began to tell me how Christians today were not used to hearing , nor receiving messages that “hit direct at the heart” he also stated that people (Christians) are used to getting excited with what was being preached, and than he said again “ that’s why your preaching is an acquired taste”!" Uh, say what? Bear with me while I try to break this down into smaller pieces of food in an attempt to decide what is "organic," what is good ol' "soul food," and what is "junk" food (for lack of a better term).
~Bro. Barber contends that Christians today are not used to hearing, nor receiving the Word of God delivered in such a way that it will "hit direct at the heart." This leaves me to wonder what exactly he expects to receive when he attends service on Sunday? In my experience, I find that many times in such conversations people will hide themselves and their own opinions behind others for fear of possible rebuttal or negative response. For example, "I have a friend who...", or "Christians today...". Forgive me if I'm way off base here. Hope I didn't just lose everybody...
Back to my original point: If Bro. Barber feels Christians are not into messages delivered with the purpose of "hitting" or "touching" the heart...that would seem to be one boring, going-nowhere, time spent in the Lord's House (with Christians napping rather than praising?). What would be the purpose of a message not directed toward the heart of God's Children?
~However, he followed up that comment with, "people (Christians) are used to getting excited with what was being preached." Whoa! Getting excited over messages not purposely preached directly at the heart? Where's the excitement in that? What am I missing here? Maybe it's his definition of "excitement" during Worship--somebody help me, here, please. I'm envisioning the Worship Services of my Youth; I was brought up in a small mill-town in NC and attended a well-established Baptish Church there. Worship consisted of the congregation standing and singing along with the choir for a few hymns, some announcements, maybe another number by the choir, the offering, and then the Message. During all of this, the only time you were allowed to stand was for the singing of a hymn or prayer. There was NO clapping! There was NO "Hallelujah!" or any sound at all other than a few of our elder men who would occasionally let loose with a constrained, "A-Men." People would fall asleep; children got antsy; everyone started looking at their watches after the 30 minute mark. In my teenage years, I made friends who attended one of the local Black churches. I couldn't imagine what they could possibly do in Church 'til 2 or 3 o'clock every Sunday, and then go back on Sunday nights!! "It must've been torture," my ignorant "pigment-challenged" mind thought. Now, I don't even wear a watch to Church! Why? Because it's God's time and it flies by--it doesn't matter to me what time it is!! And, yep, we usually get out between 2-3pm, hehe! I try to arrive early for Sunday School around 9-9:30am. Loving every minute of it! God led me to this Church, and for the first time in my life I am learning the Word of God. Finally it makes sense to me! That is excitement!
Peace and Love to all!

Deb- I feel as if you were at the Barbra shop with me! I was asking him some of the same questions, but it seemed all in vain! My God what is excitement? I usually only start getting excited when the word is being preached, that's when I get to say "o,me! Amen, or ouch!
Steve- I will keep preaching! |

Evangelist!!!! Thank You!!!! Organic Jesus...no artificial flavors, or additives....nothin' but the Gospel! Nothin' but the WORD of GOD!!!! Not watered down, not made be what we WANT to hear, but what we NEED to hear. Thank you for preaching the TRUTH, in it's authentic form. When I am trying to do right, I don't need to hear how God wants me to be happy and live my Heaven here on earth, I need to hear how I will serve eternity in HELL if I don't do right!!! Thank you for being organically authentic! |

YES.... I have sometimes been the salt and light in the world...to teens...or to people I know, or to people I have yet to meet...
sometimes you are persecuted, but know this you can find peace in the word and the psalms |

| For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow: it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12. Keep preaching brother Wilson! Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep. I think when Gods people are hungry, and thirsty, they will partake anywhere they are at! I like your analogy of the soul food to the organic! I personally prefer the soul food style of church, however, i can go to a quiet "organic" church and still be fed! God bless you and your ministry! Your sister in Christ, Amy |

| 2Timothy 3:16 " ALL" Scripture....not just what tickles our ear, amen? May the Lord bless you & keep you strong to preach His Word that fully equips. (I wouldn't want to be a football player who only listened to instruction on how to run in that touchdown & never heard the part about wearing appropriate equipment. I want to be the virgin with pure oil in my lamp @ His coming. "He who has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." |

|
| Thank you all for your comments, I pray that the things said on this blogs and others will keep you focused on the things of God, Be the one who preaches, teaches, stands, for the truth of Gods word. |
|

Anyone, who has ears to hear; hear what the Spirit is saying, that tells me that not everyone will hear what the Spirit is saying. There will be some who like what you say and know it is from God and will love it and embrace the word and bless you for lovingly correcting them. Then there are others who bow up and hate you, and hate what you say even though you meant well. The things of the Spirit are definitely an aquired taste for the carnal mind of man can not understand the things of God because they are spiritually appraised. There are times when I hear a Word that it causes me to get angry and justify my actions and I reject it, just as I would eating something that is not pleasant to me would make me gag. But, if I can get to the point where I can get past the gag reflex, I will receive the nutrition that was intended. I would agree with your barber from what I have read, you are an aquired taste, but it is a delicacy that is awesome and it satisfies the soul! God Bless |
