A Suicide Note:
I am sick of life as usual. Today I choose to die. No one can stop me. I have made up my mind. This morning I choose to kill myself. No one is at fault but myself. I cannot go on by myself any longer. I give up. I should have done this a long time ago, but I continued to fight. But no longer, because today I die.
You may ask why I want to die. I will tell you. There is nothing good in Joshua. Joshua brings death, pain and suffering to himself and others around him. I will end my suffering and kill myself, though it will not be easy. I will not be stopped. So I bid farewell to the world in which I have lived and taken part of. Goodbye World.
Signed,
"The Old Man"
This may sound morbid but we are called to do this daily...
2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 KJV 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Romans 6:6 KJV 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:24-25 KJV 3:30 He must increase, but I [must] decrease. John 3:30 KJV In the letter, the “Old Man” wrote, "Goodbye to the World in which I have lived and partaken of". As Christians we are called to do that every day... 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, 2 Corinthians 6:17 KJV If we put aside the flesh, or the “Old Man” and crucify ourselves each morning, we become brand new every day... 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV It is never easy to die each morning to our own desires and take up the standard of Christ and read, pray and worship Him as we should. It is much easier to grumble and complain about work, school or the problems in your life. If we die to ourselves we are promised help to overcome our problems... 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13 KJV For Christ to work through us, 'us' must be dead. In Christ we have all that we need... 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now [is] the accepted time; behold, now [is] the day of salvation.) 6:3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: 6:4 But in all [things] approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 6:5 In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; 6:6 By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, 6:7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, 6:8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and [yet] true; 6:9 As unknown, and [yet] well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; 6:10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and [yet] possessing all things.
2 Corinthians 6:2-10 KJV Notice how it mentions the armour? We all know what that is, don’t we…
6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Ephesians 6:10-17 KJV We must daily put on each piece of the armour so that we can fight satan and our flesh. In II Corinthians 6:10 it says...
6:10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and [yet] possessing all things.
2 Corinthians 6:10 KJV In II Corinthians 7:1 we are encouraged...
7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2 Corinthians 7:1 KJV Christ calls us to crucify our flesh daily and put on the full armour of God. What is the flesh?
5:16 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:16-21 KJV Okay, so we know the evidence of the flesh, but what about the evidence of the Spirit? If we read on down we will see... 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 KJV Christ calls us to show the Fruit of the Spirit. The Fruit of the Spirit is the opposite of the works of the flesh and opposite of the modern world. We should daily examine ourselves and see whether the works of the flesh or the Fruit of the Spirit are more evident in our lives. If the flesh is more dominate, we have to die. The modern world lives for entertainment and whatever makes you happy, and this is a fleshly mind-set. If the Fruit of the Spirit is more evident, we please Christ and He becomes closer to being LORD of ALL in our life… 5:16 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Galatians 5:16-18 KJV Christ once again calls us to walk in the spirit not in the flesh. 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Galatians 5:24-25 KJV Ah, notice again the crucifixion of the flesh?
6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Galatians 6:7-8 KJV
Here we see that it says " for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap." If you sow flesh you reap flesh, but, if you sow Fruit of the Spirit you reap Fruit if the Spirit. Flesh is sin, pain, suffering and death. Our flesh separates us from God. We must sow in the Spirit and the evidence will be the fruit.
So in the morning when you arise, the first thing you should do after thanking God for another day is to read His Word and pray. You should do this before you get your coffee and bagel. It may seem silly but write a suicide letter to your flesh saying, "I will kill you, and you have no hold on me." Choose Christ, and you will be glad you did, for you will find that your day goes so much smoother. Something else that helps in the morning before you go anywhere, is to go through the Armour and mentally name each piece and mentally arm yourself.
Will all this be easy? No, but in Christ we are strong, as Philippians 4:13 reminds us. When we die out from the flesh, we find TRUE LIFE in Christ.
“Christ Died for Us, why not live for Him?”
P.S. After writing this, I was reminded of an amazing song by Phillips, Craig and Dean, entitled, “Crucified With Christ”. Here are the lyrics.
Crucified With Christ by Phillips, Craig and Dean
Lyrics:
As I look back on what I thought was living I'm amazed at the price I choose to pay And to think I ignored what really mattered Cause I thought the sacrifice would be too great But when I finally reached the point of giving in I found the cross was calling even then And even though it took dying to survive I've never felt so much alive. CHORUS:
For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live Not I but Christ that lives within me His Cross will never ask for more than I can give For its not my strength but His There's no greater sacrifice For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live VERSE 2:
As I hear the Savior call for daily dying I will bow beneath the weight of Calvary Let my hands surrender to His piercing purpose That holds me to the cross but sets me free I will glory in the power of the cross The things I thought were gain I count as loss And with His suffering I identify And by His resurrection power I am alive (CHORUS)
BRIDGE:
And I will offer all I have So that His cross is not in vain For I found to live is Christ And to die is truly gain
(CHORUS) We are promised that if we allow Christ to live IN and shine THROUGH us, we will be blessed and effective for HIS Kingdom.
Some Scripture to look up on your own... Colossians 3:1-4,10,23-24 Hebrews 13:20-21 Galatians 6:14
