| I'm Tryin' |
|
| |
You know what? I’m getting tired of the term “I’m Tryin.” I think somehow this term has been twisted around to mean the total opposite nowadays. Kinda like “bad” means good, and “fat” means really cool. I recently called to cancel a two-year subscription with a hunting and fishing magazine. After about 30 minutes of pleading my case and listening to the lady on the other end babble about company policy and contract agreements, I finally realized that she was gonna be about as helpful as a sack of muddy french fries. So I decided to get off the phone and try again another day. The funny thing was, she asked if there was anything else she could help me with! I responded “You didn’t help me to begin with!” And her response was, “Sir, I’m trying.” I’m guilty of tryin’ too. I’m trying to get back in shape but I’m too lazy to go outside and workout. I’m trying to make friends with a couple who lives down the street but he gets home every night durin’ my favorite TV show and I aint one to miss Inside Edition. I’m trying to keep the house clean and I’m trying to set a good example for my youngun, more often then not being unsuccessful at both. Anyway, last weekend I was at the Denny’s restaurant trying to get a late night breakfast platter to go. I felt compelled to ask this feller with a Bon Jovi t-shirt if he was saved and ready to go to heaven. He responded with “Well bo, I’m tryin.” I left there wondering what that really means. You see, we don’t have to try to go to heaven; there aint no work involved that qualifies us for salvation. It’s a pretty simple process with ultimate eternal implications. Ephesians 2:8-9 says "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.”
See folks, there aint no room for tryin when it comes to knowing Jesus. We aint saved cause we are tryin’ to be, it’s a gift from God. Jesus did all the tryin’ for us… All He asks is that we simply believe. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Love to all, Rich |

| Good word! Titus 3:5 tells us that even our works of righteousness don't save us - it's his mercy that saves us. |

| I remember when my grandma would say I was trying and it meant I was stretching her patience to it's absolute limit. So whenever I hear someone say their trying I think of it in a different light! It's like many of the people who say their bad(meaning their good) or their phat(meaning their cool) when really they are bad and fat! Funny how "cool" language sometimes really does end up meaning what it is intended....... |

Rich, that is one great message! We have because it's given to us - not because of anything we need to do or work we need to be involved with.
Thanks again (Oh, and I can understand that message well well. . . Ya see, they tell me I can be VERY trying.) lol |

Hey Pastor Rich!
What a word, what a word. So caught up in ourselves that we drink the kool-aid (bite the apple) and start believin' we got anything to do with it at all. Tryin' usually means tryin' not to. You blessed me tonight and I'm gonna watch my words tommorow.
Love ya bro, Bhek |

Rich,
Really good "Word" and I'm sure many will be blessed because of it. I'm trying is only an excuse... and any excuse gives the enemy more ammo to use against us, Jesus paid the way and all we have to do is believe.... just believe.
Keep on being a blessing,
Pastor Aminata |

| My pet peeve as well! Don't try, just "do" it....don't not "do" it because you don't know how, figure it out! I had someone tell me my yard was so pretty and they wished theirs was as nice as mine. I told them that I had also admired a neighbors yard and I walked down to his house one day when he was working outside and asked him how he did it. Then, I did exactly like he told me and I also had a pretty yard. Same philosophy in life, you want to "be" something special, find someone special and let them teach you and do what they did. Don't just "listen" or "try", just "do" and you will achieve exactly what it is you wanted. Surround yourself with crap and you will find that you are in a sewer, becoming part of your surroundings. Surround yourself with productive people and you will find that you are being productive as well. Hope you all have a blessed day! |
