| Confirming my faith in people |

This morning I got one of the coolest emails I've ever received in my life! But to fully understand this email, you may want to read what I wrote in my previous blog about being a good neighbor. I can't tell you how excited I am about this!! I've prayed for opportunities to get involved with our neighbors, and the Lord has answered!!
To abbreviate the story.....I TESTIFIED (at the zoning hearing)!!! I wasn't supposed to, or at least I didn't think I would when I first arrived at the hearing Thursday evening. But God had other plans (as he usually does). You see, I tried unsuccessfully to write my own testimony, and went to the hearing empty handed. But another neighbor had a testimony to give but was very late to show up. So I ended up giving her testimony. And the immediate result was plenty of pats on the back from my neighbors, as well as one of the sincerest thanks I've ever received from anybody! And then the next morning, the following email came, from the lady (Cathy) who organized our efforts at the zoning meeting: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------- Original Message --------
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
I AM SO PROUD TO CALL YOU NEIGHBORS!
We’re we well represented or what?
With sincerest regards
Cathy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Got faith in God but not people? I have bad news for you, God primarily uses people to accomplish his purposes in the world!
Got faith in people but not necessarily God? (And this might go for my dear neighbor/s.) People acting on their own will let you down often. But people acting in obedience to the Holy Spirit will NEVER let you down—guaranteed!!
And that's all I did Thursday night...the Holy Spirit prompted me to get involved in local zoning matters, and so I did. So what might the Holy Spirit be prompting you to do to increase your involvement with your neighbors, to "shine your light" in the neighborhood? Please don't put off answering that call, you will surely regret it. Trust me, I know what that's like. But praise God, not this time!!! |

Thanks everyone! Isn't it exciting when someone sees something in us that excites them like my neighbor was when she wrote this email?? Cathy may have thought she found a renewed faith in people through what I did, but we know she actually saw the Holy Spirit at work in me. How exciting! :-)
Marcella....where in the heck did you get 100 stars to give?????? lol |

| Praise God Mike....it has certainly helped me to restore my faith in my own neighborhood involvement. We have some open spots on our roster. Like block captains and such. I have steered away from such things and I have been here for almost 9 years. Maybe it's time to get more involved! |

| "Maybe it's time to get more involved!" ...Valarie, how great to hear! If the Spirit calls you, may you find all the excitement and joy that I have through my zoning board experience, as well as other less "spectacular" experiences with neighborhood involvement! |
