A young high-schooler named McKay Hatch is recieving death threats, etc..... because he has started a club called "THE NO CUSSING CLUB" in South Pasedena, California.
There are those who are claiming that asking people to stop cursing is an infringement of their FREE SPEECH, first amendment rights. But, if that would be the case, then our rights are infringed upon when we are told that saying some of the following is WRONG, and we are being told NOT TO say " Homo, queer, spic, nigger, cracker, honky, fatso, retard, etc......." The list goes on and on. Of course, I find all these words offensive, but I FIND CURSING OFFENSIVE, TOO!!!
Another argument they use FOR the right to curse, is that it has "proven in studies" to relief tension, and perhaps prevent violence. Well, so does an afternoon nap! So does STOPPING for a moment and collecting your thoughts! Cursing IS violent, isn't it? It sounds violent to ME!
I understand that when you slam your fingers in the car door, a few curse words may slip out. But, that is quite different than waiting at the bus stop, and having to hear a couple people next to you, using the F word in EVERY sentence!!! THAT IS OFFENSIVE!!!
I have noticed that the same people who curse in every sentence (or quite often), don't curse in church. Many "cussers" only cuss out in public, or around home, but don't cuss around certain people. So, they OBVIOUSLY don't HAVE to cuss.....they just do. And no matter the GPA or IQ of a person, IF they cuss, they simply are not spiritually, or socially educated.
I think I am going to join the NO CUSSING CLUB. I think it is a GREAT idea. And it all came from "out of the mouth of babes". God bless McKay Hatch!!! He is a courageous young man, and he needs the encouragement of us who are Christians.
www.nocussing.com is McKay's website. I want to encourage you to check it out. |
